"Government most certainly did not make America great. We are, or were, great because of what we as Americans did, what we built and produced, and what we believed. We as a people were fairly devout and honored God, family and country. We worked hard and earned money that we kept for our own families. When the government clinched its fist against the Southern states there was a fringe benefit – the income tax. American no longer had control over their own finances. World War I, that least necessary of wars, sealed the tax in gold and FDR brought us the glory of income tax withholding. Nixon took us off the gold standard without so much as a "by your leave." Are we truly free when these people can take our money and use it to finance an agenda of which we do not approve? Is it unpatriotic to state the facts?"

First, I was myself fighting communists when many of these guys were potty training.
I doubt that very much, but do go on. Presumption can be so entertaining...

I’ve seen Communism up close and personal – with me it’s not just dislike of a political system – it’s hatred for a devilish secular heresy and yes, I believe this heresy, this dreadful murderous communism has come to America.
And is adhering still under the new names: tolerance, multiculturalism, "Progressivness"

Sometimes you can tell how factual an article is just by watching for the names of the first posters to try and pick a fight.

This article must have been a bullseye.

Good article! But this guy has issues, and the only big issue I have is with political correctness. However, I think his article has merit.

I thought the article was great. I am relatively new here, but I saw the same pattern of pirhana-like behavior that I've seen here before: biting and tearing at the man without discrediting his argument.

Except for the offbase aside on supporting Israel and the talk about the Confederate flag, I look in vain for something in this article that hasn't already been said by some prominent GOPer.

I am a captain in the USAF and yet I've had even my own patriotism questioned because I've made pointed statements regarding Bush's dealings with China. I see China as a mortal threat to this country and as one charged with its defense, I think it within my scope of responsibility to reflect on what I see as a major error on Bush's part. What is wrong with holding the Constitution in one hand, and comparing the actions of our federal government against it and noting the discrepancies? Isn't that the job of every concerned American??

And if you find discrepancies, is it hateful, bitter, or lowering oneself to being a "Lewser" or "blame-America-first" flack if you point them out? We may not all agree on the individual analyses, but does that mean we have to descend to personalities and become snide and insulting in our responses?
