"Government most certainly did not make America great. We are, or were, great because of what we as Americans did, what we built and produced, and what we believed. We as a people were fairly devout and honored God, family and country. We worked hard and earned money that we kept for our own families. When the government clinched its fist against the Southern states there was a fringe benefit the income tax. American no longer had control over their own finances. World War I, that least necessary of wars, sealed the tax in gold and FDR brought us the glory of income tax withholding. Nixon took us off the gold standard without so much as a "by your leave." Are we truly free when these people can take our money and use it to finance an agenda of which we do not approve? Is it unpatriotic to state the facts?"

Do you wonder why George Bush has refused to investigate the crimes of the most despicable criminal to ever hold office, his predecessor? I've been studying on this question for quite some time, and have yet to believe that I've got enough facts in hand to come to a reasonable conclusion. I'm glad that this author is so much smarter and insightful than I am.
There's a reason why I call it Spew Pukewell. ;-)

He does have many good points.

The origianl "J'accuse" was a broadside published by Emile Zola in 1898. It summarized Zola's thoughts on the Dreyfus affair. ("Dreyfus was a Jewish French army officer whose trial for treason began a 12 year controversy that deeply marked the political and social history of the period - a fierce denunciation of the French general staff in the newspaper L'Aurore. It took the form of an open letter defending the innocence of Dreyfus."
source The title of this article summarizes everything that is wrong with lewrockewell.com and it's crew of loose cannons. they think they are like Zola, that they're doing something important. what they are really doing is wasting bandwidth, discussing how life whould be conducted if the real world was Never-Never Land.

If this thread manages to survive, my view of the 'current' FR may improve a little.
But then... how many are really going to read this? I'd say the thread should be safe. It's as safe as if it were written in French.
Why would the Rockwell people be bothered about FR posters calling them names? Do they care about what DU has to say about them?

There has been a lot of criticism of LewRockwell.com on FreeRepublicThat's because LewRockwell is a bunch of Blame-America-First LEWsers.

I accuse American conservatives... I accuse American libertarians of not being conservatives at all, but rather moral-liberal ideologues who largely agree with the DNC, the Greens, and the Spartacist League on moral issues.

Lets consider the issues and use the facts to consider if government deserves our unswerving support. Are we to take this as meaning that our only other choice besides accepting drivel from LewRockwell.com is to give government our unswerving support? That sounds like kind of a false choice to me. If this is the best he's got to use against Freepers, he's already lost.

Michael, I agree with your viewpoints, but I believe that freerepublic is no longer the place where you will find an ear. There is so much censorship at this sight that any thoughts that run against blind allegiance to Bush are quickly deleted. I will not be at all surprised if you have your privileges removed for this article.

It's really rather simple.
FreeRepublic is not a truckstop on the libritarian memorial highway.
Lewser is the dumpster out back of FreeRepublic's *****FIVE STAR***** Resturant.

Great article! I've got it feature linked on my page.

"
I accuse Southern American conservatives of tolerating disrespect for your ancestors and your heritage, collaboration with a wicked and heathen occupier and abandoning your God given task of being the conscience of this Republic. "
That statement alone is evidence that Mr. Peirce is not a frequent visitor.

LRC is referred to by some Freepers as a "blame America first" site....It is flawed thinking however, to suppose that we are by default, supporters of the left and are not patriotic."

Thank you for introducing me to this site. I've read posts regarding Lew Rockwell, always in the negative, but after reading this article I linked over and read a little further. Interesting stuff. Bookmarked.

Indeed, we are not! Apparently there are some here who, for whatever reason, like it that way.

Is there something about the article with which you disagree, or were you responding to only the comments? I'm not sure where you're coming from...
