LONDON--John Walker Lindh, the California Talib, captured the public imagination with his odyssey from Marin County to Mazar-e-Sharif. Yet his tale, arguably, is an exotic one, a sui generis conceit. More disconcerting was Mohammad Junaid, the New York-born Pakistani-American who, after Sept. 11, ditched his $70,000-a-year job as a computer techie and joined the Taliban to "kill Americans." He did so to the cheers of his mother, who, astonishingly, had been rescued from the World Trade Center.

Just doing that and all the things implied by it would be sufficient, thank you.
Worth repeating.
Typical Arab/Muslim nations have certain characteristics I have observed. Save Turkey and maybe a few others, most of these societies do not practice "separation of church and state" and where Islam rules, all other religeons are usually banned. Muslims convert on pain of death. The average Muslim is taught to hate Jews and Christians as infidels. While many Muslim countries trade with the US and even have freindly relations with us, most of their populace hates America and do view us as infidels to either be tolerated, or in the eyes of the more militant, to be destroyed.
Trust me, when these same people visit or come to live in America, they don't automatically change their views of us. They have not come to be part of America, but only to reap what we have to offer.
And they need to edit the Koran quite heavily.
That's very true. A few years ago when I was getting homeowner's insurance, the agent asked me if I would have Middle Eastern guests because we have a problem here with them getting invited to people's homes and faking injuries so they can get free medical care for injuries they had in their own uninsured homes. A friend of mine found out her Muslim neighbors would only let her kids play at other people's homes in case they got hurt because they didn't want to carry insurance but use other people for that.
Well, that's the problem isn't it? The Koran is specific in its command to Muslims to kill anyone who refuses to convert.
Nothing that anyone can say or do can change what a billion copies of the Koran clearly state.
There is no such thing as a "moderate" Muslim, there are simply some who won't publicly acknowlege their religious beliefs.
Yes it's pretty clear on that. That seems to be the central problem in that religion/political system.
Surely the law makers, in Britain and the US are intelligent enough, to write laws against incitement to violence by so called religious leaders(presuming existing laws are deficient). The question is if, even in light of Sept. 11th, they have the political will.
Common sense dictates these devil-worshippers be arrested, tried and put in prison, or deported if not citizens. Religious freedom, freedom of speech, and the Constitution were not intended to be a suicide pact.
They're subverting our freedoms here as well. First, get rid of the Mullahs. Second, block the funding.
