PITTSBURGH -- AIDS activist, author and playwright Larry Kramer underwent liver transplant surgery and was listed in serious condition Monday.
Kramer's doctors said his condition was improving and was about where it should be after the 12-hour surgery Friday.
Kramer, 66, spent seven months on the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center's waiting list. He moved to Pittsburgh in early November to wait for an organ to become available. While many transplant centers oppose the surgery for HIV-positive patients, UPMC's Thomas E. Starzl Transplantation Institute has performed 10 liver transplants on HIV-positive patients since 1997. Eight of the patients have survived. Kramer's HIV has been relatively well controlled, but he suffered from end-stage liver failure caused by hepatitis B.
While orphans in workhouses are staggering, holding their damaged and throbbing livers, gasping breathily to their HMO reps, "Sir, may I have another?" these mean-spirited liver hoarders are filtering the best gin and vodka that money can buy through 'liver-complexes' the size of one of the Queens royal corgis.
Oh... The humanity...
LOL!
Mr. Robinson runs the show, pal. Anytime he finds himself in agreement with your peculiar take on things he'll doubtless pull the thread, or delete any post of mine he finds too outre.
If I've hurt your feelings, you can spare yourself further angst by discontinuing your stalking of me. Remember, you posted to me first. The only thing I've done is reply to a weird guy who started with insults and graduated to stalking.
No harm, no foul on my part sport.
You're clearly not a threat, on any level.
It seems to satisyfy a need in you...
I count it as my charity for the day.
I hope you've got some left over from New Year's Eve, because it might come in handy since he's back
LOL!
I eat this stuff up Mulder.
Life's given me a little perspective. When we're young (in either years or maturity) we tend to focus so strongly on our agenda that we forget that 'people are watching'. As you get older you become more relaxed, more willing to just throw your hat in the ring and let those chips fall where they may.
Now, I'm sure that Peep has a few who support his views out there... somewhere... But most appear not to.
In short, Peep has been making a monkey of himself here, and I've gotten a chuckle out of it.
(the nuns would have whacked me on the knuckles for that
)
Hey... That's deep.
So I take it that you're abandoning your denial of your stalking then?
There, there... Let it out... There's healing power in this apology to us.
Translation: a**hole buddy who gave him aids in the first place.
Thanks.
It's been a hoot. Laughter is the best medicine in the world. And I still have this vanishingly small, microscopic sliver of hope that Peep will come around, have a good laugh and feel better himself.
