Admiral William J. Crowe Jr. who was on the Joints Chiefs of Staff when the elder Bush was setting up Osama bin Laden as a “freedom fighter”. It has been alleged that the joint chiefs were selling weapons grade anthrax to Suddam Hussein (yes, that one in Iraq who is supposedly an enemy of all people on Earth) during this time. The good admiral – now retired – is on the Board of Directors for BioPort Corporation and owns 13 percent of its stock.

Now if you think both of those scenarios are pretty unlikely, as I do, then the only other alternative is that September 11 and the anthrax had something to do with one another. And if those who suggest that if there is an American or an independent terrorist group involved, that means that Iraq is not involved, that's nonsense. There is no sole source of contracting requirement for international terrorism. Joint ventures are entirely allowed.

My guess is that they already know where it came from and when they make their case for blowing Bagdad to hell and back, we will be told!! Also, this is quickly leaning into a World War.

During the Gulf War, the troops contracted Gulf War Syndrome and then came back to their families with the disease. Now we have a new war, troops to be deployed in Afghanistan...do you suppose there will be an Afghanistan War Syndrome? My guess is that there will and that the antidote will be for sale by large pharmacuetical corporations that Admiral Crowe is involved in.

The big problem with biowarfare is that once the genie is out of the bottle, it can't be put back in....and it can infect the perpetrators. Soooo.....look for some pharmacuetical collusion.

Ok, Oksubmariner, let me get this straight. For all intents and purposes of discussion, George Bush Sr. literally created Saddam Hussein. He some how armed him mainly with Soviet weapons during the Cold War (and the remainder French, Austrian, Brazilian and British weapons) , supplied Anthrax and who knows what else for the purpose of Bio-weapons creation. He aided Saddam in the development of nuclear weapons even after the 1981 destruction of the Iraqi's major nuclear reactor by Israel. That despite the obvious opposition that Israel and the Israeli lobby would have for such continued programs. He proceeded to transfer high technology, weapons manufacturing capabilities, and weapons themselves to Iraqi, ostensibly for the purpose of defeating Iran in the then ongoing war. And then turned on Iraq when Hussein used these American supplied weapons to invade and conquer Kuwait, and threaten Saudi Arabia. This all came as a complete surprise to the Bush administration, despite numerous clues that a military buildup was in progress. Bush then abruptly abandoned his former ally and proceeded to prosecute a war that destroyed 2/3 of Hussein's military capability, after assembling a large coalition of nations to support this move, and waiting almost 4 months and pursuing plausible appearing diplomatic solutions. Then after Hussein's ignominious defeat, UN sanctions and weapons inspections were imposed upon Iraq at the behest of Bush that led to the destruction of the local economy and the deaths of 500,000 Iraqi children from starvation and disease. All this was done on George Bush Sr.'s watch, and covered up subsequently by the Clinton administration, essentially under the nose of the American people, Bush's political opponents, the Iraqi people, and the world press. Have I got that right? I don't want to be assuming anything, or to be accused of putting words in your mouth.

Now, sit back.... consider all this, and tell me you believe any of it. Then, I will pay more attention to the intent of this thread, and give it more than short shrift. Frankly, as it stands now, this represents the most ludicrous, convoluted, and implausible conspiracy theory I've read at FR. And that is saying quite a bit.

Also Black Jade presents in reply #70 some useful information about President Bush's dubious role with Iraq before the Gulf War.

Concerning your characterization in reply #73 of what you claim I do or do not believe about the extent of former President George Bush's misdeeds with Iraq:

I do not ratify what you wrote in claim #73.

I do think the references in replies #56 and #64 strongly demonstrate that I and others have a sound basis to have grave reservations about whether or not former President George Bush adequately served America's interests with Iraq and Saddam Hussein prior to the Gulf War.

And of course everything that former President Bush did wrong with Saddam does not explain everything that went wrong with Saddam and Iraq.

However, IMHO Bush knew all along that Saddam was a madman when Bush helped approve export licenses for weapons of mass destruction to Iraq. To me that was irresponsible on Bush's part because it was like giving dynamite and matches to a mental patient who is a known killer and is certifiably insane (Saddam).
