What about all the issues where libertarians reach the opposite conclusions from liberals --taxes, property rights, affirmative action? And libertarians are split on the abortion issue.

A fair point. I'll qualify it as "social issues where the liberal perspective would appear to be the less-govt. perspective". The liberal perspective on abortion tends to have such an appearance, and so is supported by many libertarians---hopefully not a majority, but possibly given the wishy-washy party plank.
