You are both right. The greek word for "gospel" is "euaggelion" meaning both the glad tidings of the kingdom of God soon to be set up, and subsequently also of Jesus the Messiah, the founder of this kingdom. After the death of Christ, the term comprises also the preaching of (concerning) Jesus Christ as having suffered death on the cross to procure eternal salvation for the men in the kingdom of God, but as restored to life and exalted to the right hand of God in heaven, thence to return in majesty to consummate the kingdom of God .

This word appears 101 times in 95 verses. Each time the same greek word is used.

Thanks for explaining it. It as well makes the point you give one word to any number of persons and you will get many interpitations each probably saying the same message in different wordings. I know of one church denomination a popular one I will not mention that split over two words in the Bible and their interpitation. The best way is through Greek, Latin, or Hebrew which ever the origional known text contained.
