He refused to compromise his beliefs, he refused to compromise his nation (not one iota), he refused to compromise his compatriots, he was a leader by example and an inspiration to men under him in the most extreme of duress ... in short, he was a hero of the greatest traditions of America and a worthy role model for any individual or group aspiring to understand and hold dear the cherished principles of duty, honor, courage, commitment, valor, faith and country.
