a certain Arab-American security adviser

Who is Sperry referring to?

Also, I didn't write this, I just posted it. I hope Sperry is wrong about this. I'd hate to think our government is this cynical.

Even so, I hope you have your asbestos reading glasses at the ready. I, too, hope Sperry is wrong on this, but I'm concerned about some of the things he mentions, and the apparent soft spot for Johnny Jihad. We're not going to win a war on terror by letting the terrorists (including those of U.S. origin--or maybe especially those of U.S. origin) get away altogether, or merely given a slap on the wrist.

That word "Bushies" gives him away.

The sub-title on the commentary page was: "Paul Sperry slams Bush for waging wimp war".

I omitted some of the those words for obvious reasons.

Interesting points of view. Sperry doesn't pull any punches.

It's good to see that one of Dumbya's former supporters is honest enough to engage in a little reality check.

The rest of Dumbya's crowd seems willing to wait around until the puny presidential pretender's policy of trying to borrow his way to prosperity brings the economy to its knees, as evidenced by skyrocketing budget deficits, high unemployment, and stagnant stock prices.

The only nice thing about your posts is figuring that you must be aging quicker because of such hatred. It's why I stopped hanging around liberals.

We didn't wipe out our enemies; they got away. This cannot be called a real victory. What is with our leaders? We haven't won a war since Nagasaki and Hiroshima!

"As it stands now, all we've done is taken a stick and stirred up a big anthill halfway around the world, without killing the queen. We've killed a lot of worker ants, yes, but we've merely scattered their leaders."

Sperry's criticism is valid. The elder Bush walloped the Iraqs six ways from Sunday, yet left the Queen Iraqi ant in place and we've been killing a Saddam ant here and there, but never wiping out the Saddam nest. The way ants work, they are very patient, and opportunistic -- the day we are involved in some else and distracted from our attentions the ants get everywhere.

The walloping was brutal -- no less than the walloping we just beat on the Taleban. Yet the Saddam ant nest still thrives at a certain level -- even with the no-fly, even with the boycott. Saddam's cachet grows, his scout ants more wiley.

Bin Laden, if escaped -- as is likely -- is as dangerous as Saddam. As the video showed -- he still can get funding, from the Gulf billions, and he still can attract zealous followers of a loyalty Saddam can not match.

When we coddle the Saudis, we just allow the UBL ant colony more food, more water. They are a more vicious ant.

Hooray for Paul Sperry!

Face it, the Bushes, who have Arab oil interests, are the wrong people to be winning – I mean, really winning – Arab wars (and don't think Daddy's not in the loop this go-round).

Yada, yada, yada.

Same ole bullshit from a journalist who can't seem to get published anywhere but in an obscure internet corner.

I'm surprised he didn't make the obligatory Carlyle Group mention.

Sperry is just one more bozo who will have egg all over his face in a few weeks. But, like the rest of them, by then he'll be too busy to notice because he'll be looking around for something else to whine about. It will be left for the rest of us to wonder why all these jerks are walking around with eggs, toast and jam on their faces and a glass of orange juice balanced on top of their heads.

Everyone is a critic. But of course 99.9% of the critics never get remotely close to having what it takes to attempt to run the show themselves. They just revel in slamming those that do.

Merry Christmas

Hard to argue with a lot of what he says in this piece. This is definitely a PC war we are fighting. We haven't been serious about actually winning a war in a long time. We let the Saudis get away with thumbing their nose at us and we keep bending over to kiss their royal feet, for some unknown reason. We should take no prisoners in Afghanistan AND until we get bin Laden this cannot be called a total victory. Why we leave guarding the borders and escape routes up to people who like bin Laden more than us is a mystery to me.
