Damn straight.
They banned handguns in Australia, and only 35% were turned in by the citizens. They can't arrest everyone.
Bullsh*t! Hand guns have not been banned in Australia. Only semi-automatic rifle and shotguns, and assualt weapons, which have always been restricted. Graziers and farmers who require semi-automatic weapons for controlling feral animals are still allowed to own them.
In order to own a hand gun or long arm in Australia, you must meet the following criteria:
1.) For hand guns - you must be a member of a gun club, and regularly shoot there.
2.) For long arms - you must have a letter of permission from a landowner to hunt on his/her property. Or, be a member of a sport shooting association, and regularly compete.
3.) For all weapons, you must keep them properly locked away.
4.) You must have a clean police record.
