It was 'England'. I just messed around some more with the test, perfect score was 144, one wrong was 142, 2 wrong was 140, and I didn't go below that...I'm sure it's not linear.

the anagram was England, of course a country. I answered the one about the animals that the kangaroo didnt fit, but I did it quickly.

The anagram question was defective. England is both a STATE and a COUNTRY.

I picked kangaroo as it walks on two legs (as opposed to four)

Ever see the Saturday Night Live skit, one of their fake commercials, for a product called "Oops I Crapped My Pants" ? Heh heh... Basically the same ad with the product names swapped, which made it pretty funny. Unless of course you have a tendency to crap your pants.

In hindsight I thought it could have been the mule, because it is sterile (I think, not sure tho). Some of the questions do not necessarily have right or wrong answers, or, have more than one right answer. That animal one could have been one of them, as well as the last one with the overlapping shape thingy. My answer to that one makes sense (at least to me), but Jack Barbara has a different and also very logical take on that one as well...JFK

John likes 400 but not 300; he likes 100 but not 99; he likes 2500 but not 2400. Which does he like?

900

1000

1100

1200

My son (13) says the answer is 1100. He used some kind of elimination process, which I still don't comprehend. He gets these kinds of questions all the time for homework. I wonder if he knows how to reconcile a checking account.

One of my big problems is that I'm having trouble just getting past "liking" numbers.

For instance, I like girls, but not liberals. Those are the types of things one likes or dislikes, it seems to me.

Could someone please give me the correct answer, and slowly and clearly explain how you arrived at it.

Thanks,

The anagram was England, a "country". This was one of the easiest questions for me. I actually neede a bit more time on the princess/prince question.

I did get "Point the finger", which was the correct answer for that one but I didn't see a strong logical application to the question. "Shout an insult" would've worked as well.

I guessed coconut because it has a hard shell, and the others can be eaten without tools. Goes to show what I know.

I chose the coconut because all the other fruits have seeds inside them, while the coconut has liquid.

But what do I know? I'm just a 138 visionary philosopher with a bad head cold. I should take this test when my brain clears....

Insightful Linguist sounds better than Visionary Philosopher, IMHO! I'm jealous! I'm a writer; I don't want to spend my life contemplating my navel! ;-p

Wanna trade?? ;-}

Ya know, I didn't intend to bring our other discussion onto this thread; it has a home. I will reply to this on the other thread.

I was trying to poke some fun at you and say "howdy". Lighten up a little and don't be so full of yourself! You and I can be friends, despite our different interpretations of WA law.

Go get a massage, have a beer, relax! You're too wound up.

There's another test at IQtest.com that's a little easier and scores higher, I did 160 on that one.

Thanks! LOL! I can just keep taking them until I get a score I really like!! *VBG*

Yeah, I chose coconut for the same reason, as well as its hard shell. I think that that might be a question that if you answer "wrongly", as we perhaps did (tree vs. vine), it actually counts positively because perhaps we found other reasons besides the tree/vine thing...JFK

I am generally in the 165-170 range

As am I, my friend. This is not a battle of who is better, smarter, or holier-than-thou. LIGHTEN UP!

Congratulations, *****!
Your Ultimate IQ score is 142
Your Intellectual Type is a Mad Bomber
(ok, actually it's "Visionary Philosopher" hehe)

I bet I lost points on those stupid verbal "which of these things is not like the other" questions. For one, they are complex enough that the answer could be almost anything. Secondly, the test is culturally biased. My lack of knowledge about fruits and vegetables could have cost me a point on my IQ--and that's just ridiculous. As I have proven with my score, IQ and fruit consumption are NOT related in any way.
