I like it. He speaks in a straightforward manner, organized and well ordered. Not like the rambling Rockefeller. He needs to physically hit the campaign trail now, while W is riding high and the memory of algore's almost presidency are still fresh in everyone's minds.

He'll never beat Rockefeller by media, so he needs to be at EVERY dinner the Friends of the NRA have, for one thing. It will be hard, but he could do it with help.

I will help out as much as possible as soon as I am done with my Boards and have landed a job. I hope everyone else can, too.

You may want to review this FR thread on the 2002 Senate Elections.

Go to the last entry to see West Virginia. Bush beat Gore last year by 6.33% last year in WV, which gives some hope that Bush can have coattails for 2002. Be sure to let us know about any FReeps you have planned.

WV has elected at least 2 Republican Governors, and also the Bush and Rep Capito victories there last year, so the GOP might actually have a chance to win this one. Of course, it's never easy to vote out an incumbent, but maybe they will surprise the rest of us. We need as many GOP Senators as we can keep/elect this year; remember RI Senator Chafee's threat to leave the Republican Party if another seat goes GOP (what a turd!). So every gain counts and hopefully WV will help aid in this effort.....

Just a side note about the poll. Submitting it will send your e-mail address to the site with your poll entries. I did not see any sort of privacy statement on the site. While I don't know this guy or the people hosting his web site, I _never_ pass that information out blindly.

My perception of the Northern Panhandle is that folks expect the gubmint to save the steel industry, regardless of whose fault it may be that it's failing. Rockefeller managed to do and say essentially nothing about it during the Clinton years - too busy toeing the Dem Party line and junketing to Japan - and now is making a big show of holding Bush's feet to the fire on Section 201 and tariffs. I hope Jay W. will point out Rocky's negligence and hypocrisy in that regard.

Zan, I don't think it records your "email address" as I have tried voting from the same computer logged on from two different accounts. More than likely it just records a cookie. Once I figure out how to disable my cookies, I plan to try again to confirm this.

Virginia has a Senate race next year. Senator John Warner is running for re-election. Thus far, the RATS don't have a credible challenger.

Well the warning may also depend on what what security levels you have your browser set at. But when I click on the "Submit" button for the poll, I get the following pop up window message:

"This form is being submitted by using e-mail. Submitting this form will reveal your e-mail address to the recipient, and will send the form data without encrypting it for privacy."

Ward, Oops - My bad. From www.NRSC.org

[VA] POLITICAL OUTLOOK
No Democratic challengers to Sen. Warner have yet been announced for the 2002 race. Republicans look strong in Virginia as President Bush carried the state in 2000 and Sen. George Allen defeated incumbent Democrat Chuck Robb.

It wouldn't matter if we had a Sinate election every six months. I'm afraid we are stuck with our two liberal morons until he!! freezes over.
