On the serious side, a post above points out the response of many Christians: Mark of the Beast. A serious thing for the government to fool with, and a sign that the govt is seriously thinking about chipping lots of people we will see a propaganda campaign to neutralize the concept, defuse or avoid the comparison, or at least sound out the amount of resistance.
I am a student of Edward Bernays and he was the master of propaganda. One of his commercial successes was getting fashion designers to make a certain shade of green more popular, to- I am not kidding- make a certain brand of cigarettes sell more by making women's cloting "go with" the package. He also came up with the campaign that made diamonds a girl's best freind- rather than have a colored stone be the required symbol of engagement.
Watch for this sort of info campaign and you will get a heads up on when our ever helpful Federal Gummint thinks we are ready for massive chipping.
