As our troops engage a fanatical enemy in a cold, forested rugged terrain, perhaps it is well to remember those American heroes who did so 57 years ago today. Thanks, dad.

I had an uncle there with Patton, 4th arm. I think. Very cold and Shermans against Tigers and Panthers, tough going. Just shows what Americans can do even when out numbered, outgunned, and taken by suprise. I salute the Battered Bastards of Bastonge.

I just returned from a beautiful service this morning at Wolfes Pond on Staten Island, New York,where a new monument was dedicated to those who fought in this very significant battle of WWII,where the U.S.lost over 19000 lives. I highly recommend a visit to this lovely site on Raritan Bay.
