The reason so many of the Yankee ass-kissers come on these threads is that they don't have the mental capacity to think for themselves, and have sold their souls to the tyranny of Political Correctness. I am proud to be Politically Incorrect, and a proud Copperhead.

Just follow the trail of beer cans, cigarette butts and moon pie wrappers to the local trailer park. Case solved.

"...Taft..depicts Lincoln as he looked as a young circuit-riding lawyer." Sounds like Lorado Taft did up the great 'white supremist' in bronze.

Hateful? Yeah, I should just love this man for pretending to be for ending slavery, all the while refusing to free slaves in the north....even overturning military orders of commanders to do so. Yeah, I should feel great about him having the newspapers shut down. Yeah, I just feel fine and dandy about him arresting anyone he pleased for anything. Yeah, I should be pleased he made "freed" slaves work for the Union army at the Mississippi River. I am sorry, if these things are worthy of praise, there is something wrong with you.

So then what's your opinion regarding Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush??? You think they are traitors, too??

Lincoln made tough choices during a terrible time and we are ONE country now (except for those that would want it otherwise). . .

As a third-party observer of this exchange, may I say that the average person would have no idea of what the hell you are talking about? You have not sufficiently drawn an analogy between the civil-liberties-suspending proclivities of one of history's most notable bipolars, and the actions of Reagan and Dub.

GW is holding non-citizens in indefinite detention without charges, not Americans. He has not lied. He has not shown himself to be a hypocrite. He has not started shutting down newspapers. Again, he has not arrested American citizens just to arrest them; charges are being filed against those who are actually citizens. He has not forced people to work for slave labor. Explain to me how there is a correlation at all, as Lincoln did all these evil things.

Dear sir: That snake on the flag you wave is not a copperhead but a rattlesnake, indigenous only to the United States. The flag was flown on the first battleship of the continental congress as the Marine Corps flag. I presently fly a 3' x 5' version of that flag on my truck. OBL will feel the fangs none all too soon.

Oh, well that makes it alright then. He walked all over the Constitution and (could you please refresh my memory on this?) for what again? So he could have one little union and not go down in history as the POTUS that lost 1/3 of the nation because constitutionally they had the right to do so?

What so we can just blindly push forward into the future without learning from the past? I think a few more people who call themselves 'conservatives' should start looking at the historical fact instead of the propaganda machine from the north and see this mad man for what he actually was. A petty vindictive tantrum throwing whiner who didn't agree with one part of the nation over taxation, and instead of following in the footsteps of great men like Jefferson(who wished Massachusetts goodwill when they considered seceding in 1803), and trounced over the Constitution less than 90 years after it was written. And for what I ask you? Money!!

Neither "sour grapes" nor "time to move on" is original to Bush, and neither is particularly immortal. Cliched, perhaps, but not immortal.
