Winona Ryder claimed her five finger discount at a posh Beverly Hills department store was really just reasearch for an upcoming movie role sources told the Post yesterday.
After security guards nabbed Ryder the moment she left Saks Fifth Avenue without paying on Wednesday night, the world-famous actress apparently tried to pawn off her sticky fingered antics on work.
'She said a director of an upcoming movie suggested she do this for research,' a source close the investigation told the Post yesterday.
Ryder has not been reported to work on any new films, and her defense lawyer Mark Garagos, did not return calls from the Post. But Garagos has said the incident was a 'misunderstanding' between Ryder and store managers.

The drugs were Zoloft that she didn't have a prescription for.

Saw her typical shyster lawyer on Entertainment Tonight, flatly proclaiming: "She didn't do it." Wonder how long it will be before she's entering a plea saying -- surprise! -- she really DID do it -- But of course she's very sorry now.

As a committed actress, she should be afforded the opportunity to continue her research in prison.

The article said that she was carrying Zoloft in addition to pain pills that she didn't have a prescription for. I used to work in a pharmacy, it is against the law to put any controlled substance into another bottle. One must keep the meds in the same bottle that has a label on it saying what it is. The law wasn't enforced much except against the true hardcore junkies...

I do this all the time -- mixing pills into a single bottle for carrying convenience.

The feebleness of her excuse indicates she was stoned at the time.

Yet another liberal denies responsibility for their own actions. Researching? BWAHAHAHAH...
To: Utah Girl
Omigosh! What has that girl been doing?
To: Amore
Well, usually, if you've done this and you have a legitimate script for the meds, there isn't any problem.

Wow..another set of excuses. First thing I heard this morning was that she was "transferring them from one department to another," and that this was all just a huge misunderstanding.

Has anyone given any thought as to why she hired Garagos? I mean look at his history, McDougal, Condit, Roger Clinton. I just wonder if there is any common thread that runs through this story. I never thought of Garagos as the Attorney to the Stars, has anyone else? I've always thought he was the Attorney of Last Resort or of the organized crime. What's going on with this story that he would be put into play?

Anything? Did she date a Tyson? ;-)

The first thing I thought when I heard about this was that she was probably going to blame it on "researching a role".
