I can only hope and pray that, when I go Home to be with the Lord, that someone will write such a wonderful remembrance of me.

You were blessed to have him as a friend, but he was equally blessed to have you.

Well put.

That was a tragic loss. It only proves how fragile life is. I wish you peace and solace in the fact that he has found his.

I have never lost a close friend. Reading your post has given me an idea of what that would be like. Because of that, I will think about my own life and my friendships with others. Both have room for improvement. Thanks.

I'm sorry to hear that. My prayers are with Rick, his family, and with you.

Safely Home

I am home in Heaven, dear ones;
Oh so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting light.

All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
Safely home in Heaven at last.

Did you wonder I so calmly
Trod the valley of the shade?
Oh! but Jesus' love illumined
Every dark and fearful glade.

And He came Himself to meet me
In that way so hard to tread;
And with Jesus' arm to lean on
Could I have one doubt or dread?

Then you must not grieve so sorely
For I love you dearly still:
Try to look beyond earth's shadows,
Pray to trust our Father's Will.

There is work still waiting for you,
So you must not idly stand;
Do it now, while life remaineth---
You shall rest in Jesus' land.

When that work is all completed,
He will gently call you Home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting,
Oh, the joy to see you come!

My deepest sympathy.

All is Well

Henry Scott Holland
1847-1918
Canon of St. Paul's Cathedral

Death is nothing at all. I have only slipped away into the next room. I am I, and you are you. Whatever we were to each other, that we still are. Call me by my old familiar name, speak to me in the easy way which you always used. Put no difference in your tone, wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.

Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Pray, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was, let it be spoken without effect without the trace of a shadow on it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was; there is unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just round the corner.

All is well.

I've got a pal like that... I'd be really sad if he were suddenly taken. I'm really sorry for your loss.

Man. It hurts just to read your post.

I never know what to say at times like this, words seem so feeble. But, "I'm sorry".

If that helps any.

So sorry to hear about your loss. It is of little comfort to contemplate that such is part of our schooling in this period of our mortal probation. Your love for your friend and your memories of your time together are in a very real way his legacy.

It is my firm belief that we will be united with those dear to us -- be they family or friend -- on the other side of the veil. Ask the Lord to touch your heart so that you may enjoy that comfort, and live for and look forward to that glorious day when all things will be restored in the arms of our loving Father in Heaven.

May the Lord bless you and your dear friend with peace, hope, and fond memories. And thanks for the opportunity to say something positive in these troubled times.....

Prayers heavenward for your friend's loved ones. I know your friend is in the presence of the Lord and in his glorious state. How precious to know that we are on earth for a little while compared to the promise of eternity.

May you be blessed in having known this man...I'm certain his life touched others in a most precious way...he's be rewarded accordingly.
