Grandson told of 'people screaming' in south side basement, affidavit says
A south side woman was charged Wednesday with running a bondage den in the basement of her home where she was raising two young grandsons.
Jacquess Dyer Patton-Ugan, who was arrested when police raided the home Monday, is suspected of soliciting business on a Web site in which potential customers were encouraged to "explore the erotic world of controlled domination" in "the confines of Madame Venus Du Plaisir's Paradise."
As vice detectives established contact over the Internet, other officers received complaints about traffic in and out of her home in the quiet neighborhood in the 3900 block of S. 71st St.
Police also were investigating reports that the grandsons, ages 10 and 12, "had seen their grandmother having sex with people other than their grandfather," according to an affidavit filed by investigators.
The affidavit continued:
One of the boys told police about domination devices he spied in his grandmother's basement room and said that when he listened through air vents he "heard people screaming." The Web site urged potential customers to "relax and let go" and depicted Madame Venus standing on a patio in her backyard scantily dressed in a police uniform.
An investigator who eventually established telephone contact with Madame Venus was invited to visit her home for a $175 "consultation," and Madame Venus outlined a series of sexual and bondage acts she would perform during the "consultation" and scheduled a one-hour appointment for Monday.
Police armed with a search warrant went to the home.
According to a criminal complaint:
An undercover officer posing as the potential customer filled out a questionnaire and was taken to the "dungeon" where Patton-Ugan explained the workings of various bondage paraphernalia. The officer eventually signaled officers outside who stormed the home and arrested the woman and her husband.
Officers left with Patton-Ugan and an extensive array of sexual devices and bondage contraptions, including a metal table with limb restraints, a metal gurney with chains, a wooden horse "with padding and straps," "an old-fashioned dentist chair," a seat that hung from the ceiling and was equipped with arm and leg restraints, 31 items of bondage apparel and 63 whips, among other things, according to an inventory of what was seized.
They also confiscated photographs, customer questionnaires, assorted paperwork and receipts and computer equipment that they intend to analyze for details about customers and business transactions.
Patton-Ugan, 49, was charged with prostitution and keeping a house of prostitution while her 60-year-old husband, Richard Lyle Ugan, was charged with keeping a house of prostitution.
While she admitted performing "numerous sadomasochistic acts" in her basement over the past two years "for either money or services," her husband insisted that he allowed his wife to "play" in her basement room with men but prohibited her from having sex with them or charging them, the complaint says.
"I saw Mommy whipping Santa Claus,
Underneath the mistletoe..."
Better get Bubba Clinton to help on this one, pal!
No, I'm afraid she's a little tied up right now...
"Mr. Fertik emerged from the basement with no visible signs of harm."

A man meets a woman in a bar, the two go back to her flat and begin
watching porno films. The man passes out and wakes to find himself
strapped to a dentist chair. The woman, along with her accomplice begin
to torture the man, eventually killing him.
Does a prostitution charge entrain confiscation of anything the police choose to take?
These days, every charge (or mere accusation) fits the bill.
Its Christmas everyday for law enforcement!
(Give Granny her metal table with limb restraints back! But take her grandkids away!)
