I find it hard to believe that the government of Russia would have any concern over Americans exercising their constitutional rights. I know this was on the "Voice of Russia" broadcast, but it doesn't necessarily mean that this is the official position of the Russian government. More likely, it was an opinion piece from some foolish liberal college student. Yeah, the Russians have them too.

Good point.

Besides, I find the term 'gun control' a little laughable from the nation that created the widest proliferation of small arms in the world.

I agree. The article keeps referring to "Moscow." Moscow this, Moscow that. Who is Moscow? Who is the article quoting? One of the vaguest pieces of journalism ever. At least when they get to the domestic gun grabbers they can find real names.

I doubt the government of the RF cares if we own small arms either. Many people think that Russians are not allowed to own guns. Not true. Almost everyone has at least a shotgun, and many have rifles. There are some limits on semi-auto rifles such as 10-round mags. Handguns are generally prohibited but easily available 'na lyeva'. The reality is that there are just as many guns around Russia as in the US. This 'Voice of Russia' commentary is likely just one of many realpolitik gripes about the ABM treaty, our success in Afghanistan, Kosovo, etc. Of course the gun control crowd such as VPC and their congresscritters will seize upon it as if it means anything at all. Which it doesn't.
