That is so true. Just look at welfare. The more you have dependant on welfare, the more they will perceive you are doing a 'good' deed, while never really solving the problem of independance. And generating lot's of voters because you 'care'. They don't care about the people, only their own agendas. It's a visious cycle the liberals want to keep and we have to keep fighting!

Re agendas of the non profits and their chasing of $'s for personal reason!

About ten years ago we had devastating floods in our city and county. The Bishops across the country had their priest announce the problem and to ask their church members to send contributions directly to our church.

The response was incredible. I was Senior Warden at the time. We had only a couple of members who had flood problems. We used the money to help them. Then, we authorized our priest to use his descretionary account up to $500 per family to help families. He and I would review each case by phone and agree to help or not. Bigger requests were investigated by some people who had skills to confirm if there was a need and no overlap with other charities. The vestry then took a phone vote to approve or not approve each case. We were quick and got money to those with true needs. We found a couple of frauds and refused money. There was no foundation, no waste of money! Every dollar given to our church by others for flood relief was spent on the victims and not a penney for admin costs!

Flash forward a few years and there were more floods and even worse. Again the response from other churches across the country and even world was great. I was not on the vestry and was out of the loop. My wife came on the vestry and discovered that the volunteer secretary, a church member, had submitted a proposal to become a full time positions and full time paid executive secretary to handle situations like this. Her proposed salary with benefits would have been only below that of our priest.

This was shot down by the conservatives on the vestry when it was voted on with some strong campaigning by yours truly. The person who presented the proposal left our church and went to another and another until she got her dream job! She and her husband, another person who depends on his money from milking non profits never speak to me. So be it! It would have been a complete waste of money, and she would have found some needy cause to throw money at to keep her position!
