WASHINGTON (AP) -- Twenty-one people filed a $100 million federal lawsuit against Cracker Barrel restaurants Thursday, accusing the nationwide chain of widespread racism, from segregating black customers in the smoking section to denying them service.
It was the largest civil rights lawsuit against a restaurant chain since Denny's settled a $46 million discrimination lawsuit in 1994.

I've seen enough of these types of stories that I've kinda lost my outrage. I've started to think about what life must be like for people who interpret, even a third, of those daily unpleasant experiences as some sort of personal judgement. (And I'm not just refering to black people like in this story. I've run into a handful of people who seem to have bad experiences everywhere they go.)
It cannot be a happy life. If they get the money they will still be angry resentful people. They aren't winning anything. I'd rather work for my money and not be weighted down with the thought that everyone is out to give me a hard time.

The plaintiff might want to note that the incident occurred in Chattanooga. I suspect if racism was involved, it had far more to do with a local sentiment, than a nationwide policy of a particular restaurant chain,....especially one named 'Cracker Barrell'.

Good grief...the only franchise restaurant that serves decent corn bread, pintos and greens ("beans and greens" for $4.99) is now the one being sued by blacks. In many years of eating at this restaurant, I've been annoyed by the occasional (very occasional) bad service. Maybe I should sue...

I propose they change the name of the restaurant chain to "Blue-Eyed White Devil Barrel"! >;) Maybe the owners meant it when they called it "cracker" barrel.

"...old-timey and harken to a bygone, white world." What exactly, does this mean? I'm trying to picture that. Do they give prompt, polite service or something bizarre like that?
