Joe Scheidler, founder of the Pro-Life Action League and author of the book, Closed: 99 Ways to Stop Abortion has been sued by NOW and they have won the first round. The judge slapped Joe with a judgment of $257,780.76 which of course he cannot pay. He has appealed, but he if loses, he'll lose everything -- including his home and what little money he has saved. He could be held liable for 14 years' worth of the abortionists attorneys' fees, an amount that adds up to millions of dollars.
Joe is being represented by Tom Brejcha, of the Thomas More Society. Tom is one of a handful of attorneys in the nation who has mastered the complexities of RICO and anti-trust law. Tom is basing Joe's appeal on several rock-solid issues, since the trial court made many serious mistakes that denied Joe a fair trial.
Fay Clayton of NOW and her team of cunning pro-abortion lawyers from several major corporate law firms can spend as much money as they want. Her team even includes a high-priced militant feminist lawyer who is flown in from Washington whenever she's needed.
Fay Clayton is determined to bankrupt Joe's Pro-Life Action League, and if she succeeds, she would consider it the crowning achievement of her legal career. A victory would embolden her to sue other pro-life leaders and organizations.
And maybe we should use it against liberal groups.
Where can we find a summary of the case?
Wouldn't that be fun, I can't think of anyone who deserves it more.
This lady was prosecuted for carrying a sign showing the gory remains of an abortion under a statute banning display of signs having pictures of "murder . . . personal violence . . . or the commission of any crime." This gross 1st Amendment violation has been stayed by a Federal court.
Of course, if it had been a gay porn video then it would have been "protected speech".
Right on! We are told that abortion isn't murder or violence. It is not a crime. Then how can one suppress a picture of an aborted fetus on the grounds that shows the results of "violence" or a "crime"????
Indeed the Liberals are just twisting the law to suit their purposes.
Soon expressing an opposition to abortion will be a "hate crime". The EU is about to make "racism" a crime. Then they'll probably make "sexism" a crime. Then they'll put anti-abortionists in jail because they are "sexist".
They always have, and they always will. Hopefully a case like this will bring things to a head and make up some minds about what abortion is and what it is not. The truth, however, would be glaring at them in the face. I wish I could sit on that jury.
The only thing the lib lawyers could come up with is "your eyes aren't seeing what you think they're seeing" b.s. which, hopefully, will make a decent jury mad.
It won't. The press is controlled by liberals. So the press won't report on the legal cointradiction involved. As a result Joe Six Pack won't know. As a result it won't come to a head.
My guess is if Rev. King were alive today, in his role as a Christian minister, he'd stage a sit-in and be hauled off in chains with the rest of us, after being accused of being a turncoat.
Funny how you never hear about those separation of church and state arguments from the libs when it comes to Rev. King. In fact they don't even refer to him as a Reverend anymore, just Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. .. anybody else notice that, or is it just me?
Maybe, but we can help him anyway, if not financially, then through powerful prayers. This is David vs. Goliath, and God can do things men can't.
Give me a break. Look at the history of social reform and note the thousands of bombings and riots and injuries and arrests and murders (especially during the civil rights movement). Compare that to the pro-life movement, where only seven lives have been lost in 30 years, with only a tiny fraction of bombings and arsons and virtually no riots. To suggest that the pro-life movement has resorted to violence is preposterous. There were more people killed during a few days of rioting in the Rodney King matter in Los Angeles than have been killed in the entire history of the pro-life movement -- not only in this country, but worldwide.
