BRITNEY Spears will bare her bodacious bod for animal rights in an upcoming PETA campaign. PAGE SIX has learned the songstress has agreed to peel down for a PETA poster that should be available by Christmas.
"It's very exciting news," said PETA mouthpiece Dan Mathews. "We are really thrilled to have Britney join our new crop of fur-fighters."
It's an animal-rights about-face for Spears, who was slammed by PETA for performing at the MTV Awards with a caged tiger on stage.
Mathews, who at the time begged Britney to consider "the plight of captive wild animals caged and forced to tolerate bright lights, crowds and frightening levels of noise," says the songbird has changed her tune.
"A few weeks after we wrote her, we were sent a letter saying Britney had abandoned using animals on tour," Mathews said.
"She took our message to heart. There's so many different animal issues, and you can't expect that everyone is born Ghandi. We think Britney has set a great example of someone who listened to what we had to say and made a change."
Britney has also signed on to model faux-leather duds on PETA's pleatheryourself.com Web site. "It's a lot of fetish wear but also non-leather shoes, belts and bags," Mathews said. "Patricia Field is designing some outfits for the site."
PETA's current "I'd Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur" poster girl is actress Dominique Swain, who was snapped nude writing "I Will Not Wear Fur" on a blackboard - a sly reference to her role as a jailbait seductress in "Lolita."
But one of PETA's original pin-ups, Naomi Campbell, has continued her fall from grace in the eyes of animal rights activists. Campbell, who was fired from the campaign after she wore fur on the catwalk, was stopped from entering Spa the other night when she showed up wearing a fur coat.
When the doorman informed her of the nightclub's no-fur policy, Campbell argued with him and pointed out he was wearing leather. Eventually, Campbell agreed to leave her fur outside and was allowed in. She sat with pal Sean "Puffy" Combs, who wears fur and designs with fur, and his now-friendly ex, Kim Porter.
Informed of Campbell's latest fur-paux, Mathews bared his fangs. "I think anybody who knows Naomi knows she is a problem and is often incoherent," he said. "We're just glad we've got so many other people that have hearts and have souls, really." Meow-ouch!
Next month, Spa and Centro-Fly - which has also adopted a no-fur policy - are throwing parties for PETA to coincide with Spears' and Swain's eye-catching campaigns.
Yeah but she's gonna be nekked. That should count fer sumthin.
It is a matter of taste... yours and theirs. When you go multi-platinum... let everyone know, then folks will give more credence to your opinion. Until then... money talks.
... and true.
... break out the asbestos underwear, if you got it.
Freeperland has been taken over by Concerned Women of America... (formerly the women's temperance movement)
B Spears is NOW public enemy #1 to all who are pure, moral and righteous in America. Men who like how she looks and moves are #2. Welcome to the control freak american vision of "forced" morality...
Most singers dont write their own materials, even "talented" ones who cannot dance in a haltertop. The few who do, perform in a "group" by and large, where other members collaborate on the writing and performance of the work... every successful musician has producers, tech people, editors and sound guru's who make them sound as good as they can....
That B spears has them, does not make her less talented than anyone else who has them... and the real indicator of whether one has talent or not, HAS to be money made for records sold and tickets sold for concert venues. B-spears has all of them...
I don't care for her tunes per se... just chaffe at the idea that any girl who performs in a sexy outfit onstage is a no talent slut...
America by and large has voted with their dollars to attest to the fact that she IS talented.... get over it.
You mean every time you go to buy those "D" cell batteries??
My wife, daughter and I all switched to veggies exclusively a few months ago and I haven't noticed any difference :) Actually, I'm eating very well, and the things my wife is whipping up are, for the most part, better tasting than what we had back in the Days of Meat.
I'm not TOTALLY Vegan - every once in a while I just have to have a Double Whopper With Cheese or somesuch - but for the most part it's veggies only. And we did it because of health - my wife's brother has colon cancer, and whilst doing some web research for him on diets and cancer, we decided to give it a whirl. I have a friend who cured himself of terminal cancer by changing his diet, so I know it works. But we're just gonna beat cancer to the puch and never get it :)
A TEN POINTER!!! LOL...
How many of those do you have?
I ran completely out of targets for my shotgun practice!
WAIT.....those are not life size, are they?
I don't have a wall that big!
No, in this case, it's not a "matter of taste". Some people are simply better singers than others, regardless of album sales.
I haven't gone "multi-platinum", but I'm in the music business. I have worked with and for world-famous R&B vocalists that could kick Britney Spears' boney rump from Seattle to Miami.
I might even know more about music than you do. Hard for you to imagine, I'm sure.
