InsightMag.com - FBI Probes [Israeli] Espionage at Clinton White House
Say it ain't so! </sarcasm>
I HOPE we're spying on any and every country, we've got too much to lose.
This smells of serious "covering your assets" case. The massive intelligence failure has occured because American special services did not do their job. At least Israelis have tried to do something. Now they are going to be accused of not doing enough? Whose job is it to protect Americans? Israel's???
When was the last time we heard about "English" spies or even "French" spies?
I imagine they'd have to say that about Israel, if they want to hold on to their political offices for long, given the power AIPAC has.
Bury this turkey already, will'ya? Ever heard of "friendly fire" concept? Do you know that during the Gulf war more our guys have died from friendly fire than from enemy fire?
Check out this: Israel always puts its own interests first. That's good, and should be expected from any nation. Now, does America always put its own interests first? Why are we such suckers?
Might we also be stupid to think the same?
We endanger our friendship with Israel at our own peril:
C.I.A. report June 13, 1967 no malice; attack a mistake
U.S. Navy Court of Inquiry June 18, 1967 mistaken identity
Report by Clark Clifford July 18, 1967 no evidence ship was known to be American
Senate Select Committee on Intelligence 1979/1981 no merit to claims attack was intentional
National Security Agency 1981 Mistaken identity
House Armed Services Cmtee 1991/1992 No support for claims attack was intentional
The last investigation was spurred by White House Chief of Staff John Sununu, who, after meeting with Liberty veterans, referred them to Representative Nick Mavroules, chairman Subcommittee on Investigations of the House Armed Services Committee. After a one year investigation the matter was closed, the investigators evidently finding nothing to support conspiracy claims. (The Liberty Incident, Doctoral Dissertation, Judge A. Jay Cristol.)
