-------- Jun 1981 First mention of Microsoft MS-DOS
...
How about Aug 1993 First mention of murder of Vincent Foster?
ML/NJ
Absolutely. I started using it when it was dejanews.com. I use it for everything from technical research/problems to finding a good mini-van.
It is weird, though, looking at my old posts. Oldest posts by me that I can find are from 1993. I thought I posted some in 1991 and 1992, but I can't find anything.
I was finally able to find my infamous "Gates threatens Apple over OpenDoc" thread.
Oh, the memories...
Not really...before 1993 or so, most of the discourse was fairly reasoned.
It wasn't until Delphi and AOL opened the floodgates that things went seriously downhill.
C: Faking genuine concern comes naturally for Republican christians.
Me:We operate the soup kitchens so we can see how people look in our clothes.
And so we dance to some ancient private rhythm,
With modern steps for our modern weapons,
Caesar's soldiers danced the same around their ancient engines of war,
As did Arthur's and Napoleon's
So too did Lee's and Grant's
So too do we.
Engines scream unearthly loud hot
the petrochemical stink of burning JP-8 and exhaust heat swirls around us
and we pin and depin and preflight
direct the jammer carrying the weapons under the wing and sweat in the heat of the summer sun on the ramp
kick the chocks and salute the man and watch him taxi out
And now a moment to relax only to hear on the radio REDBALL!
Bat One has a redball northend hammerhead for a flightcontrol problem
and we jump into the truck and scream down the taxiway only to find that
it was a temporary problem pilot induced so now we can sit for a moment
in the shade outside the AMO
Watching our birds launch, drinking a coke, relaxing for a moment before
they return to the patch to quick turn them
Goes again at 1830, all jets code 1
And swings will service them, gas them, put them to bed,
working long into the night, often until the bloody sun makes its rounds again,
returning once more to fry the ramp, to burn us dark
And so we dance to some ancient private rhythm,
With modern steps for our modern weapons...

Bob, kindly submit that one *here*- if you don't [and you should!] I will- it's too good to be left out of that compilation.
If you care to dig through the thread, you'll also find something similar of mine, regarding the Soviet submarine Kursk and those in that line of work.
