Rediff.com reports that Mohammad Afroz, an alleged terrorist conspirator being held in India, has told Bombay police that the attacks were planned for 367 days earlier--Sept. 9, 2001--and that 'Islamic militants had planned to strike simultaneously in India, US, United Kingdom and Australia.'

I bet it's not Hindu.
I don't know for sure where he was, but I'll bet he was traveling overseas with Chelsea. She had taken off the semester from school, remember, and they wanted to get as many free trips as possible those last few months. I'm going to check on some of those websites that have their travel pictures. If I find anything with dates, I'll post it here.
For those of us who followed the Trannie threads last year, especially during the post-election Gore-produced debacle, any kind of incident that would allow Klintoon to invoke Martial Law was one of our biggest fears. I am not one given to easily believing "conspiracy stories" but there were so many of the Trannie 'mile-markers' that were successfully concluded, it became clear to me that we were hearing from a credible source. The only part of the Trannie thread that never came to pass was an incident that would allow Slick Willy to pull some kind of stunt that would keep him in power and in the WH - for some kind of bizarre reason of "national security" or some such other hokum that he would have invoked.
During the entire Florida recount idiocy, my prayers were constantly focusing on keeping our Country safe from any kind of threat, for some act of terrorism or agression that would have provided Clinton with an opportunistic event for keeping himself in office, or assuring Gore some kind of "continuity shoe-in". Since Clinton didn't much care for our Constitution or real democratic process, I didn't put it past him to try some kind of Executive Order; I didn't even discount the possibility that he would invent some kind of position for himself, in Gore's Cabinet thus assuring his puppet-control of Gore.
With all the stunts that Slick Willy pulled on Inauguration Day, it is not a far stretch to imagine that he would have liked some kind of opportunity to extend his stay in power and romping over our rule of law would have been the least of his concerns. It would have fallen to his "spin meisters" to simply explain the logic and the rightness of what he was doing. I, for one, truly believe that if he could have, he would have tried for almost anything to stay in the office, and stay in the White House. There were many others of us on the Trannie threads who believed the same thing, and waited and watched, hoping that the bulbous-nosed one wasn't provided just the platform he desired.
.......donning my flame-proof suit, I'll now go away quietly.
Then of course there was the bombing of the USS Cole in Oct 2000.
NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - Honoring the 17 sailors killed ``standing guard for peace'' aboard the USS Cole, President Clinton warned their attackers Wednesday: ``You will not find a safe harbor. We will find you and justice will prevail.''
Another lie from him, of course. He did nothing about the Cole, though there was still a bit of time left for him to do so. And experts then were saying that bin Laden and Saddam had their hand in the Cole.
DAMAGE TO U.S.S. Cole
So nothing's showing up that I can find anyway on travel in Sept 2000, except for that trip to NY around 6 Sept.
seems to be cooperating nicely with his 'interrogators'... maybe we should send our group to Bombay for some questioning?
I know what to think. I think clinton would have used it to every advantage and from the moment of strike the campaign themes would have changed to "Don't change horses in midstream." I think it would have pushed the election to Gore because Bush was portrayed as not having any experience in foreign policy.
Thank God that that did not happen.
The EO was drafted 6-9 months earlier, as I remember. I know that when we learned about it, it seemed like a long time before it was to take effect.

Sampras overcomes Australian wonder kid to reach US Open final
NEW YORK, Sept 9
Four-time US Open champion Pete Sampras upended ninth-seeded Australian wonder kid Lleyton Hewitt in straight sets here Saturday to reach the final of the 15-million-dollar United States Tennis Championships.
The 29-year-old fourth-seeded American beat Hewitt 7-6 (9/7), 6-4, 7-6 (7/5) in two hours and 36 minutes.(snip)
With President Bill Clinton watching on from the Presidential box, both men began winning their serves with relative ease. At 5-4 with Hewitt serving, the 3rd-ranked Sampras suddenly elevated his game to earn two set points at 15-40.

Bill and hi$ entourage were in Africa a$ late as $aturday, $eptember 2nd, and then he shows back up in NYC as early as Wednesday, September 6th.
It looks like Bill met with Israeli Prime Minister Barak sometime Saturday the 9th, perhaps in the morning (I'm too lazy to do the time calculations). I think he then headed out to the US Open SemiFinals in the afternoon.
Ah, what wonderful memories...

ARAFAT LIKELY TO DELAY DECLARATION - FOR A WHILE ANALYSIS

Barak and Arafat were at the U.N. Millennium Summit this week, but attempts by U.S. President Bill Clinton to close the gaps apparently failed. (Maybe an attack was called off because Arafat was in town?)

Never mind. Arafat met with Clinton on Wednesday. Plenty of time for Arafat to get out of Dodge.

2ND ROUNDUP: Safin riddled with doubts during win over Martin
By Bill Scott, dpa
New York(snip)
Safin, who turned a miserable season around starting in April when he finally took a coach and won back-to-back events on clay, will play the winner of a later semi between four-time holder Pete Sampras and Australian hope Lleyton Hewitt.
The National Tennis Centre bristled with snipers and hundreds of police as Bill Clinton arrvied for the Sampra match. He saw little tennis, spending most of his time signing autographs and tennis balls tossed to his VIP box by nearby fans. (This cute little sentence was omitted in later editions. :-)
In the trophy match-up which wraps up the so-called "Super Saturday" programme, second seed Lindsay Davenport was facing Venus Williams.(snip)
There was extra security that week in NYC. This would possibly be a reason why an attack would be cancelled?

TOP STORIES: NEW YORK CITY
The following are the day's top stories from New York City:(snip)
Giuliani Says U.S. Owes New York $25 Million for UN Security, Paper Says New York: The U.S. government owes New York City $25 million for the cost of security during this week's United Nations summit, the New York Post reported, citing Mayor Rudolph Giuliani. The U.S. State Department "routinely refuses to reimburse the city" for the full cost of protecting diplomats, Guiliani said in a letter to President Bill Clinton, and worries that this year's bill may be the biggest so far. About 6,000 uniformed personnel and 750 detectives are assigned to the summit, though the State Department pays only for their overtime. The mayor also cited the cost of providing standby ambulances in accordance with Secret Service requests. The State Department declined to comment, the paper said.

I dunno. It just seems to me that he wouldn't have been man enough to even be in the country during an attack like that, much less the same city. But what do I know?

AL-QAIDA SUSPECT HAS NEVER MET OSAMA
STATESMAN NEWS SERVICE MUMBAI, Dec. 8. Al-Qaida suspect Mohammed Afroz Abdul Razak has told Mumbai Police crime branch interrogators that he took instructions from Maulana Mansoor Ilyas of the Warribee Islamic Centre in Victoria (Australia) and had never come in direct contact with Osama bin Laden.
Investigators suspect that Maulana Ilyas has been recruiting youths without telling them that they would be working for the Al-Qaida. Razak was initially trained to trigger bomb blasts but was later asked by Maulana to undergo a pilots course. He was trained at Royal Victorian Aero Club. Razak told interrogators that Rs 1 crore was spent on his pilots course. He said two hijackers of Indian Airlines IC-814, Shahid Akhtar and Zahoor Ahmed Mistry, were known to him but by different names Sandy and Zia. They were receiving instructions from Maulana Ilyas.
Razak first came to know about the plan to hijack airliners and carry out suicide attacks in different parts of the world in May 2000 at a lodge called Pakistan Hotel in Hong Kong where he met Maulana Ilyas. Police said the passport entry confirmed this visit to Hong Kong. Razak said he and other four hijackers were told about their mission to hit the House of Commons at this meeting. He was sent to Cabair College of Air Training at the Cranfield Airport , Bedford, in England in July. Around Rs 30 lakh was spent on advanced training.
Fully equipped to fly large passenger airliners like Boeing 757 or 767, Razak was given the order to hijack planes on 9 September 2001. He was asked to hijack London-Manchester plane and crash into House of Commons. The ticket to board the flight at Heathrow Airport was issued to him on 10 September. When two planes crashed into the World Trade Centre towers in New York, Razak was at the London Airport. The mission failed as local aviation authorities cancelled all internal flights.
Two months of intensive interrogation initially baffled the police. As more and more details started pouring in, pieces fitted perfectly in the jigsaw puzzle.
