What an interesting article!  The more "science" is revealed, the more we learn that the Bible is true from the beginning and that the Koran and its followers were a lie from their beginning.  And we know the destination of "all liars."

It is insufficient to bookmark this thread. SAVE THIS THREAD or SEND PAGE TO YOURSELF!  IT HAS ALL THE EARMARKS OF ONE THAT THE ARAB PROP TEAM AND MUSLI SHILLS WILL PEE ALL OVER TO PROVIDE JUSTIFICATION FOR IT BEING PULLED.

There have been many studies about the authenticity of the bible in part or in whole. None of these studies matter in the least to the Christians who believe in the bible. Likewise, I do not think any of these studies will matter to the millions of Muslims in the world. They believe in the Qur'an and that is that.

According to Sardar, we therefore know what the Prophet ate, how he treated women, children and animals, and his behaviour in battle. In reality, we know nothing of the sort - everything Sardar claims as historical truth is based on hearsay, on the words passed down by Mohammad's followers.

I guess that this would make the Torah and the new testament a farce too since this is what Christians claim about Jesus.

Jesus wrote nothing. Most of the books written about him were written 30 to 50 years after he died.

The account of Adam and Eve was the scribing of a long oral tradition.

We don't have the original scrolls.

Be carefull what kind of importance you place on this "new history" because if you think this standard is the measure of truth, then the written histories of Christianity and Judaism are not to be believed either.

PLEASE HELP!!! . I am furtively scratching my head ( i.e., secretly acknowledging my own ignorance ) while simultaneously trying to discern any significant difference between the mentality that champions and practices (1) homosexuality, and (2) the Islamic faith !!!

The Koran has numerous references to characters and events described in the Old Testament, yet without reading the Torah the Koranic references make absolutly no sense.

There is no doubt that the early Moslems must have been versed with the Torah. I doubt that Moslems today understand the story of Moses or Abraham, since they are not allowed to read the Old Testament.

This is essentially the working through of the "Higher Criticism" that pointed out inconsistencies, mistranslations and mistakes in Scripture in the 19th Century. So now it's made it's way to the Koran. After a century and a half it's about time. But before we presume Islam is a fraud, we might cast our minds back to the Victorian era, when the "Higher Criticism," geology, evolution, and modern historiography caused many Westerners to lose their faith in the literal truth of the Bible and in God.

That religious books contain contradictions and untruths, that their texts have changed over centuries of copying, that political authorities use and manipulate religion to secure their own ends: there's nothing new or shocking in any of this. Islam will survive such revelations as Christianity and Judaism did. But the study of the relations among the various religions in the first millennium is valuable and promising.
