co-author of the book:

Joe Galloway spends two years as a combat reporter in Vietnam for United Press International.
In 1998, he's awarded the Bronze Star Medal with a combat V by the U.S. Army for rescuing wounded American soldiers under heavy fire in 1965.
Galloway co-authors "We Were Soldiers Once...and Young " (1992), an account of
the Vietnam War's first major battle.
