We Were Soldiers -- The New Mel Gibson Epic
Quicktime Movie Trailers ^ | 12/09/01 | N/A

This is the trailer for the eagerly awaited Mel Gibson epic. Didn't see it posted before. The book is excellent -- but will the film be worthy?

I wonder how Mel could tolerate working on all those Lethal Weapons movies with that HYPOCRITE Danny Glover?

Is he? Oh, I didn't know that. Thanks for your post.

LETHAL LESSON

DAVE SOMMERS, Staff Writer

November 16, 2001

PRINCETON -- Movie star Danny Glover, known for his brutal gunplay in the Lethal Weapon movie series, last night called on the U.S. to spare the life of Osama bin Laden As guest speaker at an anti-death penalty forum at Princeton University, Glover said America was the one to blame for bombing and terror around the world...

What a shame that so many OFF-screen personalities do not live up to their ON-screen images.
Sigh. Now there is yet ANOTHER left-wing actor that I will have to avoid.

I highly recommend reading the book first. LTG Hal Moore's first hand account is a gripping read. You won't be able to put the book down. I hope the movie is loyal to the book.

Concur with your recommendations and your hope. The Moore/Galloway book is currently on my nightstand and I will get to it after I complete Lord of the Rings.

These days, I'm chasing books in advance of movie releases.

One other production you might want to check out. The Ia Drang was featured as part of a comprehensive albeit selective documentary on the war hosted by Jack Smith.

This feature aired on either the History or Learning Channels about a year ago. I found it to be done responsibly and with care. It might surface again as the release of the Gibson film approaches. It's certainly worth a look, IMO.

Smith is the son of former ABC news anchor Howard K. Smith. At first glance, I thought this was just more liberal spin on a war liberals are now sorry they sat out. But Smith the younger was a gunner in the Cav -- 1/9 unless I'm mistaken -- on the march from XRAY to ALBANY, and he did a really good job on this production.

I only the Gibson film is done as well.

Paleoconservative ... along with Michael Moriarty. I've read a few essays of his and he's to the right of me (and that's not easy).

...The real kicker was when I first arrived at our IA DRANG Alumni Weekend Conference over 2,200 Miles from Home.

...As I rounded the corner outside our Conference Hotel's Entrance and started to talk to some fellow IA DRANG Vets... ...out comes ..JOE GALLOWAY.. yelling out...

.."Why, it's ..ALOHA RONNIE"..

..."I want you to go right upstairs to the Hotel Restaurant and say Hello to the General and Mrs. MOORE."

...As Lt. Col. HAL G. MOORE said at the Battle of IA DRANG-1965 and Full Colonel HAL G. MOORE then said at the Battle of BONG SON-1966 ...it was just...

.."OUTSTANDING"..!

That would be ..JOE GALLOWAY.. and ...Lt. Col. HAL G. MOORE..., the co-authors of the book!
Right, ALOHA RONNIE?

You have some pretty AMAZING friends, Ron!

Gibson went on David Letterman in 1996 and said "I really like what Pat Buchanan is saying."

...Ooop's-a-la...

...Look's like So. California's KPLS 830 AM "Radio on the Right" is now airing last Thursday's tape-delayed BOB DORNAN Talk Radio Show instead of today's show.

...Both good shows ...Both Timely ...perhaps today's show will be aired another time by KPLS Radio...?

...Double Ooop's a-la... today's 2nd hour time slot of The BOB DORNAN Show is not airing at all. A lady is now talking instead...

...This is NOT OUTSTANDING at all.

...After thanking General KINNARD I was further Blessed to walk right over to ..RANDALL WALLACE.., who had been seated right next to the General facing me during our 2001 IA DRANG Alumni Dinner, to thank him for his paying honor to ..RICK RESCORLA.. in his speech to us that night. I also wanted to thank him personally for our Official ..WE WERE SOLDIERS.. Caps he gave us and to steer him to the..

Can't wait to see this one. Of course, I'd go to see a Mel Gibson movie even if he was portraying the Sugar Plum Fairy, so I'm not too picky when it comes to him...
