Yes, the Vienna Boys Choir version was the best of the 7 I downloaded last night, but it's not the ONE I'm looking for. I'll try the TSO (is that Texas Symphony Orchestra?) one tonight. Thanks.

it's hard to find one that isn't beautiful,

You haven't heard the N'SYNC version ... YUK!

Thanks for the reply, and I hope you have a VERY Merry Christmas.

WHAT? No Jazz offerings? :) I've got my choices but no time to offer input.

A Charlie Brown Christmas certainly counts as jazz, doesn't it?

Many years ago, for a buck I picked up a CD of the Atlanta Symphony doing Christmas. Patapan, Drummer and O Holy Night...just kicks!

The sound track from the Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye "White Christmas" Movie is also a big tear jerker around here...Hugs and Love to all.

GRRRRR

Yes, the Charlie Brown Christmas album by Vince Guaraldi is definitely jazz. And I'd argue that my selection of Louis Armstrong & Friends is a jazz record as well.

Just stumbled across the Pogues & New York Fairytale a few weeks ago and it is now on my favorite list too.

The boys of the NYPD choir
Were singing "Galway Bay"
And the bells were ringing out
For Christmas day

Merry Christmas

The combination of gospel music and Christmas music is pretty phenomenal. Kirk Franklin's Christmas is spectacular. The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir has a Christmas album too, some of which is very commercial-sounding but there are a few outstanding tracks. Then there is an album called Handel's Messiah: A Soulful Celebration---you will flip out at some of these, even if you think the original couldn't possibly be improved upon.

You wont find it on any CD but Tiny Tim singing "Santa's got the AIDS this year" should find it's way onto your hard drive.

I remember hearing Howard Stern play that Tiny Tim song a few years ago. A co-worker, whose office was next to mine, went apoplectic over that song!

Speaking of twisted Christmas, I'm watching one of my all-time favorite Christmas TV show's -- the "Married With Children" featuring Sam Kinison as Al Bundy's guardian angel.

On a not-so-twisted note, my all-time favorite Christmas song is Elvis Presley's "Blue Christmas."

I love Christmas music, too, and collect it. Have you ever heard an interesting little New Year's song by Cary Grant? More of a spoken one than sung, really, but you might want to look for it sometime. I heard it and luckily recorded most of it on the radio, on an old-time radio program in Chicago, though missed the very beginning of it while I was getting my tape going. He must have originally done it in the 40s or 50s, but not sure. Maybe you can find it on napster or one of those services. It's delightful.
