I'm from Cleveland originally myself (E. 107th and St. Clair back before the riots) and I thought it was great the way Steeler fans supported us. I've hated the Steelers (Squealers, as their called by the Chicago Browns Backers Club) for quite a few years now but if the Browns can't make it to the Superbowl, I'd just as soon see the Steelers over anyone else.

BTW, I was in Pittsburgh for a week on business in October - Great town!!!

My husband and I both left the area after college but came back because Pittsburgh and the surrounding area is a great place to raise a family. BTW....we left Allegheny County because the taxes were so high. Too bad, so did alot of others.

I was just kidding about leaving at the age of puberty. Actually I've lived here all my life and wouldn't leave for love or money.

Yeah, Midland was always known for their parades and celebrations. But since I began visiting there (1989), they've fallen on hard times. J&L doesn't pay like they used to. And the median age of Midland residents must be 60. Since you went to Midland for July 4, I have to ask; where did you grow up , and where did you go to high school? My ex-wife went to Quigley.

Here in NW Arkansas, some of the old timers use "you-ins" same as "yunz", which has now been replaced by"ya'll" by the next generation. Also old-timers would say "Hit's gonna rain, I reckin'" for "It's gonna rain..." My Texas born and raised red headed grandma would say "I'm gonna worsh and wraynch out some bedclothes". She would also say " Well, S#%t far (fire) an' save matches". Love dialects! Ghostkatz

One thing that really struck me on a visit to Da 'Burgh a few summers ago was this scene:

Wifey and I were checking out that relatively new science museum dahn by the river/old Three Rivers stadium.

On one of the top floors of that museum was a room full of Macintosh computers with internet connections. Very little visitor traffic there at the time. The only people my wife & I saw there surfing the Web were AMISH/MENNONITES (not sure which) -- complete with traditional garb. That struck me as really cool.

If you're from deep in the heart of Picksburgh, you drink Iron City Beer or IC Light (that is, if you really like the taste of paint stripper). If you're an oldster, you may long for Duke or Tech beer.

About the only good thing one can say about Picksburghese is that at least we don't say "wooder" for "water," like Philadelphians!
