FROM DEBKA INTELLIGENCE FILES A true oxymoron if there ever was one.

NOW GET READY FOR ALL THE ANTI-DEBKA EXPERTS. RUMMY CONFIRMS CHINESE HAD TROOPS SUPPORTING THE TALIBAN AS DEBKA CITED. I THINK THEIR ARTICLES HAVE PROVEN TO BE REASONABLY ACCURATE. ON ISRAEL THEY ARE ON TARGET. PAKISTANI PLANES DID FLY IN AND PULL THEIR MEN FROM KONDUZ AS DEBKA CITED. IT IS AN EMBARRASSEMENT TO THE USA WHICH WE COVER UP BUT MANY OTHERS HAVE CONFIRMED. MAYBE THEY UPGRADED THEIR COMMODORES TO A GATEWAY 1000 MGZ. WISH OUR CIA HAD AS GOOD A RECORD. MAYBE THE CIA AND FBI WHO FAILED US MISERABLY BEFORE 9/11 SHOULD UPGRADE THEIR 286 COMPUTORS. BE FAIR FOLKS. INTELLIGENCE IS DATA AND LEAKS RECEIVED, SOME GOOD AND SOME BAD. DON'T EXPECT 100% ACCURACY. 50% IS GOOD AND 10% IN THE RIGHT AREA, WHICH PREVENTS DISASTER IS ALSO GOOD. I WONDER WHERE ALL THESE DETRACTERS AND SELF PROCLAIMED INTELLIGENCE EXPERTS GOT THEIR INTELLIGENCE TRAINING? AND HOW MANY OF THE BLOOD-THIRSTY COUCH-BOUND WARRIORS WE SEE ON FREE REPUBLIC, EVER SERVED A LICK IN THE ARMED FORCES. IF YOU CITE YOUR OPINIONS MAYBE YOU OUGHT TO CITE YOUR BACKGROUND AND WHAT MAKES YOU AN EXPERT. I AND MY GENERATION SERVED IN WW2. WE HAVE THE EXPERIENCE AND SCARS TO GIVE US SOME LEGITIMACY. 30% OF MY COLLEGE CLASSMATES DIED IN WW2. WE SURE HAVE A LOT OF ARMCHAIR QUARTERBACKS AMONG FREEPERS. GENERALLY I FIND MOST OF THE COMMENTS QUITE REFRESHING AND INTELLIGENT. THEN THERE ARE THE OTHERS. IT MUST BE WONDERFUL TO BE SO SMART AND RIGHT ON EVERYTHING.

The special forces personnel operating in the region are attired in protective suits and carry equipment to counter threats from radiation and biological or chemical agents. It has been declared a no-go zone for journalists -- even those attached to the U.S. military. Then why is Geraldo there? Another little detail that calls into question the veracity of the latest Debka article...

American armed forces in Afghanistan are in a race against the weather, too. The heavy snows expected around Dec. 10 to 12 will make their task almost impossible, forcing them to wait for the spring thaw. Funny, the Weather Channel forecast for Kabul shows no inclement weather through December 13th. Granted, it can be different weather in the mountains, but one would expect at least some of the bad weather to drift into Kabul...

At present, the edges of the area north of Kandahar are dusted with snow, and winter is raging in north, northwest and western Afghanistan, encumbering U.S. intelligence-gathering and air operations. Gee, WeatherUnderground has a 2-day forecast for cities throughout Afghanistan, and I can't see a lick of winter weather anywhere. I call up a map of current conditions and all it shows is some rain in the far northeast part of the country. Herat and Farah, in the western part of the country where the winter weather is supposedly raging, show partly cloudy skies with projected highs from 55 to 65 degrees. So why is Debka lying about the weather?
Tigerclaw, you asked what qualifications I had to question Debka. You busted me, I guess - I an just a weather weenie who relies on the Weather Channel and WeatherUnderground websites to research Debka's claims. All I can do is call up a .pdf from WeatherUnderground that shows no sign of winter weather raging anywhere in the country, despite Debka's claims.

This should be the final nail in the coffin of Debka's credibility. THEY ARE FRIGGIN' LYING ABOUT THE WEATHER. A simple check of internet weather sites shows the current weather in Afghanistan is pretty good for this time of year, and there is little to no precipitation and little cloud cover. WHY ARE THEY LYING? WHY ARE THEY LYING?

According to sources in Islamabad, Musharraf advised the CIA director to go to Kabul himself and verify the information firsthand. They report that Tenet took this advice and paid a secret visit to the Afghan capital Sunday, Dec. 2, under the protection of U.S. and Russian special forces units. And here is another lie. According to CNN, Tenet accompanied the body of Johnny Micheal Spann from Germany to Dover Air Force base on December 2nd. Why would ANYONE believe Debka any more?

They came up with a description of dark-colored, cone-shaped, ultra-heavy containers, about 4 feet long, which they were given to understand were radioactive. And how would such a device be gotten into this country? If it was a dirty bomb, then I'm not so sure this is what it would look like. If it's a true nuclear device, then it would have to be sophisticated enough to go through a detonation process of some sort and it would have to be delivered.

"In Afghanistan, the U.S. military -- combing through the Tora Bora mountain cave complex 300 miles northeast of Kandahar for Osama bin Laden, his top lieutenant, Ayman al-Zawahiri, and 1,000 al-Qaida fighters..." Aw, gee whiz. I thought Ayman al-Zawahiri was dead. That was reported yesterday, n'est ce pas?
To: Israel
A senior U.S. intelligence source familiar with the Tora Bora operation said the target area from Jalalabad to the Marines' Reno base south of Kandahar, has been cleansed of all cameras and media correspondents. Debka can't even get the name of the base right, it's Camp Rhino.
More Debka crap.

The images appearing on television screens of summer-like conditions at Tora Bora come from archived footage. Another weather lie from the article. DallasDeb saw Geraldo reporting from Tora Bora yesterday and said the weather appeared quite nice. How long has Geraldo been over there? Not very long. Plus, we just got to Tora Bora - how could we have archived footage from there if we just got there a couple of days ago? But Debka had to craft this lie to cover up the fact that the weather is fine. Unfortunately for them, the satellite doesn't lie.
Am I still being hysterical?

The heavy snows expected around Dec. 10 to 12 will make their task almost impossible, forcing them to wait for the spring thaw. Time to revisit this story. The weather on the news broadcasts looks pretty good today - what happened to all the heavy snow? Why has the mission not changed to what Debka said - they are still hunting bin Laden, not stopping the search. And I haven't seen any hazmat suits in the reports from Tora Bora. This story is officially BUNK.
