USO Canteen Freeper Style

War has come to our shores. It was committed on American soil.  We have been able to live in Freedom only because of those who have fought in the past wars giving life, limb and all the sacrifices for us to live in Freedom and go about our day without fear.

On September 11, 2001, that comfort, that feeling of living in a land that would not be attacked ended.

William T. Sherman said it succinctly, "War is hell."

The day has come for this Nation and its people to understand that there is a risk in losing its freedom, and in reality there always has been. We have ONLY stayed free because of the sacrifices of our military, our warriors.

This is about saving the future of America. Aristotle said, "We make war that we may live in peace."

We are seeing the American Flag flying at homes now more than ever in my lifetime. We are seeing the American Flag flying on vehicles and people wearing Flag pins and small Flags on their clothes. America is united in the cause for Freedom and for our country to WIN against the evil that came upon our land to kill and hurt us. To change our way of life and to destroy America which is US, you and me. To take away our precious Freedom.

This is the Freeper version of the USO Canteen. Where soldiers could come and feel a small part of being at home. It is a place where you that have family in the military can post a thought to a loved one that might be able to read it far away from home. A place where we that support our military can help support them, post to them, fun graphics showing the price in America and our troops. Poems, quotes, cartoons, or articles of how America is behind our troops.

Those in our military are our Nation's warriors. Let us join hands, fly our Flag and let the world know how important our warriors are to us....And that our MILITARY, our Warriors, are America's TRUE HEROS!

Good Morning, Snow Bunny!

President Bush will be in Norfolk today to speak to some 10,000 troops and invited guests on the USS Enterprise observing the Pearl Harbor Anniversary. Also in Norfolk is the annual service for Pearl Harbor survivors:

12:55 p.m: Memorial service for Pearl Harbor survivors featuring guest speaker, Rear Adm. David Architzel, Commander Navy Region Mid-Atlantic. At least 25 survivors and their families are expected. Sponsored by the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, Chapter Two.

Special arrangements are being made to transport the veterans to the carrier Enterprise where President Bush will speak later in the day. Anyone with base privileges may attend. Call 462-7923 for information.

A salute to veterans everywhere but on this day, a special salute to WWII vets and Pearl Harbor survivors!

I know it isn't very *mini*, but there is so much history behind those links. Lord, with all the younguns that have computers, there shouldn't be ONE facit of American History they shouldn't make it their business to know, and pick out the wheat from the chaff. We are such an amazingly wonderful country with an awesome history. We are the envy of the entire world, and the *college* students don't know why. Our entire history is interspersed with the kind of selfless heroism that makes other countrys' histories look shameful. Arghhhh.

Been to my share of Navy commissionings and y'all have never seen a better, more Patriotic group of Americans in yer life!! Even the Networks ain't gonna be able to hide the Joy of Pro-Americanism at this Event...unless they ignore it altogether!!

Yep, Mud, you are so right! I worked as a civvy for the Navy for 16 years and was fortunate enough to be invited to a number of events such as changes of command, commissionings, etc. Nothing better than one of those events on the flight deck of an Aircraft Carrier. Makes one awfully proud to be an American!!

BTW, my invite must have been lost too!! I can't get on the base anymore even though my husband still works for the Navy. Security is so tight, I fully expect to be evacuated from my home today....I live close to the base...LOL!!!

Good Morning Eveyone, Day 3 of Operation Get Well Granny, where the "B" Team fills the apron of Grannies for the Breakfast duties while she recovers (Get WELL soon IG!!).

Menu being served at the Canteen this morning;

Oatmeal, Cold Cereal, Fresh Fruit, Pastries;Coffee and assorted Juices, and of course, the "B" Team specialty, Burnt Toast!

I finally got to see a few snow flurries this morning! Hurray! It's still too warm for snow, but I was so happy to see even one or two flakes.
