Today’s mail brought a beautiful Christmas card from the White House.

The picture on front is a lovely, peaceful painting of Christmas packages sitting on and near a chair and lamplit table. It is called "The White House Second Floor Corridor".

Inside, is a Presidential seal, followed by:

Thy face, Lord, do I seek: I believe that I shall see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living! Psalm:28:8,13 (RSV)

May happiness be yours during this season of goodwill and may the New Year bring peace on earth. 2001.

It is signed [printed], George W. Bush and Laura Bush.

KEYWORDS:
I am the lowliest of peons. I gave as much as I could – but it wasn’t all that much – and worked as hard as I could during the election and its aftermath. I've also sent him cards since.

So, I'm not bragging. Just sharing with you all something that makes me both proud and humble and reminds me anew what a God-loving, gracious couple we are blessed to have in our nation's home once again.

Laura explained last night on 20/20 that she requested they change the Bible verse to this one because she thought it best represented our country after Sept 11. That in our darkest hours, we discover the finest inside ourselves.

I got the same card too. Like you, last year I donated what I could, which wasn't much. I was pleased to see there wasn't an appeal for fundraising. In my heart, I believe the cards were sent to people like us because the Bushes genuinely consider us friends, even though they don't know us personally.

That is what I think as well, Dan. I didn't give that much (although it was the first time I had ever donated to a political campaign) and I donated one day a week to volunteer work (and believe me it wasn't that important).

It was really nice of them to do this. I got the card they sent out last year when he was governor as well.

An added benefit is that my sister, who is a democrat, is GREEN with envy. Ha! I am framing both cards.

I have a friend whose uncle got a card from 41 during his term. It was about 18 x 12 inches and personally signed. The most magnificent Christmas card I'd ever seen.

I doubt I will receive a Christmas card from the President.BUT, last summer(2000),my parents received anniversary cards
from both former President and Mrs. Bush AND then, governor and Mrs. Bush for their 40th anniversary.
My sister and I had sent invitations to them and other officials, singing groups(the Statler Brothers sent a card too)etc.
According to the Clintons(I refuse to use the word president in reference to them), my folks hadn't been married long enough!!
The Bush family just has so much class. Makes my heart sing.

So, not receiving a card this holiday is fine. The look on my parents' faces last summer was more than enough.

I got one also. Did you notice that it had a stamp on it? I don't think its required for The President to put postage on constituent mail. They are a class act, no question.

Who made the card? Hallmark, American Greetings or another company. I work for AG.

Mine came Tuesday. Delighted to see the scripture on it. It's so tough to find a card these days that even says "Christmas" let alone "God" or "Lord."
