No, it's not.
Me either, you flirt. My son lurks here :-)
after all, this is a family forum.
(-:
Very interesting. Have you noticed if that trend just involves neutral, current-events type of news? Or does it also include articles that most liberal media won't print because they don't want the public to know?
Don't worry... I'm all talk and no action. Just ask Dog Gone. He'll vouch for me. ;-)
(So-o-o-o...... what's your son's name and age, anyway?)
Do you wipe with your tinfoil helmut after your visit to the potty?
You're right. In a "scientific" poll, CBS, ABC, and NBC wouldn't have been listed as "news sources."
I'd always thought of this as a place to strip the fact from the fiction in news articles ... particularly mainstream ... and the posting of foreign or obscure sources which fed the research and running commentary of cliques interested in same for whatever reason.
I guess where we're simply posting information from trusted sites (such as WND), I don't understand why it's not left to a heads up with a link to the story.
Since we're precluded from posting full-length from the major new conglomerates, the excerpting of particularly egregious bits of writing excerpted for tarring, feathering and correcting should serve as the example.
I realize it's different strokes for different folks but I worry that many consider some kind of chat room with a mainstream news ticker where folks leave off discussing their favorite song, their ideal sex mate or oohing and aahing over pix of George W. and Anna K. to go cheer the government or jeer other posters and still consider it a political site or one devoted to rooting out corruption by defending the Constitution (AND DECLARATION) to the letter and exposing, not rationalizing, its abuses by our leadership.
Were we not already the target of those who claim we're stealing their hard work only to provide a "news site" for free, it would be one thing. I think the continued viewing of Free Republic as a news site -- rather than a Truth site -- portends ill for the only truly valuable service the place ever provided.
I'm just as grateful as the next guy for the friendships formed and the lively contact with current events. I think of far more lasting and singular import is the education I've received here.
Where the forum has denigrated into "Bush Lovers" and "Bush Haters" who simply spew personal insults, it's become relatively worthless save as some sort of Pep Club for the President.
Worse, where it's sucked away the regular visits to JWR, WND and other independent sources on whom we rely for the bulk of our "thumbs up!" coverage, Free Republic may be in part responsible for their going under because they -- unlike the monolith sort of liars who sue us -- never balked at our lifting their content but just begged us to click a banner or two.
So very true.
