Jacob's named was changed to Yisra'el (Israel) which means literally "to struggle with God".

Maybe - but more likely is(h) - ra - el : literally; man- see - god.

My Hebrew is very rudimentary but all the information I've seen translate the meaning as "struggle" with God. Perhaps others here can be more definitive.

My point being that there is some evidence to suggest that the word Palestine may have derived from Israel and not Philistine. The whole point is rather silly because the Caananites were the one's displaced by the Exodus not the Philistines.
