You are right. We are not serious. If we were, we could seal our borders pretty well. Sensor technology has gotten pretty good. Keep the pressure up.

A rather invidious statement there...the Canadian border may be very long, but mostly runs through wastelands and wilderness, with many little roads crossing that hardly would have a few vehicles a day in a busy season...and further is frozen solid half the year.
The Mexican border is statistically shorter in length, but has far more population and centers near it, and often runs through densely populated areas such as Tijuana or El Paso...and even when it IS in remoter desert areas, most of the year temperatures and conditions favor travel quite comfortably...
The most important fact is that, surely, Mexico must have 3 to 4 times the population of Canada...

I thought Reno was the worst AG in history, now Ashcroft seems to one up it(her/him/yech) every day, God help us all...
If the Clinton administration attacked the Constitution and Bill of Rights in the same manner what would you all say?
To: Joseph Warren
Wouldn't want those still approximately 83% anglo cannucks running down here en masse, now would we? Maybe in 1963, things have changed alot here. And by the way, for another poster, ALL of the terrorists came through the US border.

Evading the U.S. Selective Service System: All male U.S. citizens, and all male illegal alien non-citizens upon entry into the United States, who are 18 through 25 must register with the Selective Service System (draft board). If you do not register, you can be prosecuted for a felony and fined up to $250,000 and/or be put in jail for up to five years and/or deported. The U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service (I&NS) makes registration with the Selective Service a condition for U.S. citizenship if you first arrived in the U.S. before your 26th birthday. See the Selective Service System chart of all males who must register.13 million illegal aliens: A recent study at Northeastern University in Boston by researchers Andrew Sum, Neeta Fogg, and Paul Harrington concludes as many as 13 million illegal aliens may reside in the United States. This is comparable in size to the combined populations of the following 13 states and the District of Columbia (in alphabetical order): Alaska, Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho, Maine, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, Wyoming, and the District of Columbia; total population of 12,588,161 in the 2000 census. See itemized listing. The U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service says about 40% of the illegal aliens are in California. The 2000 census counted about 8 million undocumented illegal aliens in the United States, and expert demographers admit it may have missed some.

Sounds good.
Calling all Canadian FR operatives - call off all Operation Frisky Beaver excursions into U.S. Yanks are getting suspicious.
For now...

"If the Clinton administration attacked the Constitution and Bill of Rights in the same matter what would you all say?"I'd say Bubba had a veeeery dark and insidious MO if HE were doing it.
I for one am not quite that paranoid with Ashcroft and Bush pushing the envelope a little in leiu of the events.

Except, of course, for the Muslims who came over the Canadian border here in WA state last year about this time.

Wonder how many remember a few years back when the Canucks had THEIR military patrolling the border?
Specifically, the south end (their end) of the Ambassador Bridge, right across the river from Detroit, in the summer of '67.
Seriously though, I've always thought we should we should patrol our border with Canada with a group of people at least as rude, insulting, obnoxious, and ignorant as the folks that Canada has manning their customs booths.

I for one am not quite that paranoid with Ashcroft and Bush pushing the envelope a little in leiu of the events. They're not just pushing the envelope, they are tearing up the Bill of Rights. Tell me when do you think this "War on Terrorism' will end? Our political class is insatiable when it comes to power and regulation we need to stop them now.

And, WHICH border did MOST of the hijackers come through? None of the hijackers came through the Canadian-US border.
None.

frozen solid half the year?
You've got to be kidding. Our first snow was only a couple of weeks ago, and it's totally melted by the middle of march. Now that's JUST snow. Almost ANY road is passable with a 4X4...ANY time of year.
Frozen solid? Not even close.
