For true students of history, it is now nearly beyond dispute that certain high-ranking officials in Washington, D. C. knew in advance of the Japanese intention to attack the U.S. fleet in Hawaii, yet did nothing to prevent it.

This is utter bullshit. First, FDR did indeed want American involved in WWII, but not against the Japanese. FDR didn't care about what was going in Asia at the time. He wanted to attack Hitler. Second, though the U.S. did suspect that an attack by Imperial Japan was imminent, U.S. officials believed the attack would be aimed at the U.S.-owned Philipines, not Hawaii.

The author offers no evidence to support his viewpoint.

Additionally, I just read that although we had broken Magic, we hadn't broken all of it and a lot of papers were not even decoded until after Pearl Harbor.

agreed. the japanese had different codes for different types of messages. we had cracked the diplomatic code and knew that there was probably an attack coming, but did not know when or where. we did not break the military code until much later in the war. without the military message, we could not have safeguarded ourselves from the attack.

They weren't sure. My parents knew the Pathe News photographer who took the pictures of the Pearl Harbor attack. He had been assigned there while a cohort was assigned to the Phillippines to await an attack.
