My only comment is that I do not believe that Rome has anything to do with this in a future sense.

Only the words of Jesus himself matter.

Those are the words of Jesus...sort of...the Bible says that the Word became flesh.
Revelation is Jesus.

I think you need to put the books down for awhile and get out more. Talk to your neighbors, help somebody, listen, and stop scaring the crap outta yourself with something that implies we are driven by fate and cannot change it.
To: VaBthang4
'sort of' I rest my case. Jesus Saves. He that believeth in me shall not die but have eternal life -Jesus (I hope i quoted Him right).

If we are going to use the Christian morality index, Europe is many times worse. In fact, the true seat of global power is in Europe, not the USA. So I am not so sure the Bible is necessarily talking about the USA, even if you could overcome the almost impossible burden to show that Revelation has any direct connection to our present age. It is at best highly speculative trying to figure out exactly what Bible prophesy relates to. Some people think they got it all figured out. I don't think anyone knows with any high degree of certainty what prophetic passages mean. They never have, and never will.
But what I can say for sure is that there will always be people who will use Biblical passages of any type, prophetic included, to manipulate people. The solution? Get involved in the process of shaping the course of your country. A Christian man, using sound, bedrock Biblical principles, can do plenty of good.
Resist the temptation to be a spectator. Do something. The odds are you'll live a long life and die before anything conclusively apocalyptic happens. If you waste your time as a Biblical spectator, watching the poop hit the fan all around you, then you have wasted your life. We have a duty to all who will live in future generations to vigorously pursue the good. We can do something.
We ought to do something. Spectators need not apply.

Great. Return of the Talibornagain.
To: VaBthang4
America is NOT Babylon. You and the others here, who keep thinking that the Bible is some sort of Nostradamus ( and he wasn't making prophosies about our time, either ) thing, are wrong !
To: spoosman
No...without a doubt Europe remains...Daniel makes it fairly clear.
Any other ideas?
To: VaBthang4
Oh no....
The Talibornagain are at it again. Y'all are as eager to see the destruction of America as the Taliban.
Anyone have anything that can be backed up by scripture and common sense that could explain what nation is represented here in Revelation 18?
Yeah, 'Babylon'.
Just read what it says instead of trying to twist the Bible to your own ends.

Last I heard Babylon was in Iraq.

"
Great. Return of the Talibornagain."
"Rejoice over her, O heaven! Rejoice, saints and apostles and prophets! God has judged her for the way she treated you. [The disdain our nation has for "real" Christian men and women in general]'"
To: spoosman
"Oh, how tedious. I fear your nuisance forces me to retract my magnanimous offer to let you live."
To: VaBthang4
Those are the words of Jesus...sort of...the Bible says that the Word became flesh. Then why are you trying to do a Baylonectomy on Jesus. It says 'Babylon'. I believe the Bible. That is good enough for me.
Repeat after me: 'Babylon'............'America'
Do those sound alike to you?
Or do you think God made a mistake and said 'Babylon' when he really meant 'America'?
To: chookter
(His spell checker was on the blink that day.)
To: VaBthang4
With a mighty voice he shouted: "Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great! [The United States of America?] She has become a home for demons and a haunt for every evil spirit, a haunt for every unclean and detestable bird. Nope.. sounds like the middle east/arabia to me
