er...I was born in so. Indiana Lawrence Co. But the climate is a little rough, and it seems so remote. Maybe around the Univ at Bloomington, but then that is so lefty...

North Carolina. Lots of potential here, but Georgia and SC are probably better deals on the whole. Check into that awful intangible tax in NC. Foothills better than mountains, coast is toast every hurricane that comes hits it. Far more insects than Fla, and not as much of a yr around climate, and quite an income tax.

Texas. Surprisingly, if you don't mind those infernal summers, you might love Galveston or Padre Island, or the mountains of the far SW that are a hidden secret, but do Anglos have any future here?

Utah. Keep to cities if you are not Mormon, but if you are this is shangri la and Disneyland.

Virginia. Beautiful all along I-81 in the Valley...and look at that lovely little area between Roanoke and the NC border. Plan to get away from Dec 5 to March 5.

VT avoid.

WA, avoid unless you already live there.

W VA. This is really nice and the low cost leader secret. Steady decline in population leaves lots of nice older homes for YOU! Seriously, check it out, if you don't mind fairly hard winters. Avoid within 10 miles of coal mines, but SE and E and S parts of the state can be lovely.

Wis and Wyo, I would avoid. There you have it!
