[history]
Shortly after the State of the Black World Conference got underway in Atlanta last week, police announced an arrest in the year-old murder of the sheriff-elect in nearby suburban DeKalb County.
Among the three men charged with the ambush slaying was Sidney Dorsey, who in 1996 became the first black sheriff in U.S. history. Derwin Brown, the man Dorsey is accused of killing, would have been the second African-American to hold that office.

Black on black crime and educational achievement by black kids should be the top two issues.

This writer is absolutely correct. The most likely cause of death for an African American male born and raised in most large American cities is HOMICIDE. Pretty sad state of affairs.

Drug legalization and allowing law abiding blacks in the inner city to own guns are the best solutions.

The country needs more D. Wickhams and fewer J. Jacksons/A. Sharptons. All races would benefit.

Black-on-black homicide is a bigger threat to African-Americans than all of this nation's racial hate groups combined. White hate crime is the most exaggerated and phoney issue out there today. All of the truly dangerous white supremists in this nation would fit in a phone booth. Over 280 million people in this country and white on black 'race' murders occur how often? Once or twice a year?

Mr Wickhams is a lib and is part of the problem, note his dismissal of "sniviling balck conservatives". He is however correct that they have no standing in the black community. Unfortuantly the current black "leadership will not address issues faced by the black community honestly and tragically more lives will be wasted and lost.

I'm curious. What do you suppose the black on black murder rate is among the "sniveling black conservatives" who "have no standing with the masses of African-Americans?"

You have just stated what I was about to, only better.

Mouse to bridge--I like both your ideas, but I'm a "pull yourself up by your own boot straps" type of guy. Whey some of these professional victims and their so called leaders start to preach individual responsibility for learning and working, then they will greatly improve their plight. Larry Elder on KABC radio in LA is my guy.

Where has this guy been? Social conservatives from Booker T. Washington to the present have pointed out that black America's problems are not due to racism and government neglect but black culture's refusal to demonize promiscuity, illegitimacy, and violence.

Where are the REAL leaders? The ones that lead by example of self-help, education, and sense of community. Not these losers that "lead" by telling everyone what the reason they are where they are is because of "whitey" and they are "owed."Preach it, bro. Sometimes it ain't the white man keepin' them down.
