Surgeon General: CDC Labs a 'National Disgrace' SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters Health) - US Surgeon General Dr. David Satcher said that the United States should be ``ashamed of the condition of the laboratories at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta.'' The labs are out-of-date and poorly equipped, he said, ``and these are laboratories that are relied upon around the world.''
Satcher, who held an impromptu press briefing at the American Medical Association House of Delegates meeting here, said ``the laboratories had no power for 15 hours during the early days'' of the anthrax bioterrrorism attacks.
Satcher, who previously served as director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), said the whole US public health system needs an infusion of cash. ``I support the proposal by Senators Frist and Kennedy to boost the public budget by $3.2 billion.'' The Bush administration is asking for an increase of $1.5 billion.
Beyond problems at CDC headquarters, Satcher said that all public health labs--state and local--need to be re-tooled and updated. ``There are local public health labs that don't have fax machines, that have no computers so they cannot receive e-mail updates,'' he said.
Moreover, Satcher said, ``We need to train more epidemiologists. It's my understanding that there are 10 states that have no trained epidemiologists in their health departments.''
Satcher, who is a member of the AMA House of Delegates, was a featured speaker during a session on bioterrorism.
Let me add a few things to further substantiate your opinions regarding the AIDS problem in the United States.
In my medical judgement, the public health service did a terrible disservice to our entire country in the early 1980's. Instead of declaring HIV a major health threat to all Americans, gay rights lobbists succeeded in tying "civil liberties" issues to their self-created epidemic. THERE IS NO OTHER SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASE WHICH IS ACCORDED THESE SPECIAL PRIVILEGES!!!!
Out of the major causes of medical disability in our nation, the homosexuals infected with HIV are spending our premium dollars faster than we are. We are, in fact, subsidizing those who CHOSE to behave in KNOWN manners which were CLEARLY a health hazard.
Yet, our family (who behaves in a responsible fashion) is forced into SUBSIDIZING care for a person who didn't about either themselves or their community and SPREADS this disease... claiming that it is his RIGHT.

It is not a "RIGHT" to spread HIV and to carry AIDS. The fact is that the HIV status of an individual should not be protected under patient privacy law.
These same laws are manipulated by America's leftists to prevent parental involvement in teen pregnancy!
These same laws are the laws that are used to carve out a niche for Planned Parenthood!
These same laws are used to sacrifice millions of American citizens (babies no less) under the auspices of parental civil rights.
Every time you hear a DEMOCRAT open their mouthes about health care... listen for two things:
1. Listen to the democrat's methods to protect the handouts they get from America's insurance lobby.
2. Listen to the way the Democrat protects the cash flow from law-abiding, middle-class families to the RAT's gay/Hollywierd crowd.

Officers of the Public Health Service have equivelent rank & uniforms of US Navy officers.
The Surgeon General (as head of the Public Health Service) has the same rank and uniform as a US Navy vice-admiral. The post of Asst. Sec. of Health is an admiral.
Admiral Dr. Koop was both, and was almost always in uniform (it's optional for captain & above).

This criminally bad medical malpractice re aids/HIV identification since the 1980's put every health care worker on the front lines at risk. A single needle stick where the health care worker accidently stick themselves with a needle use to inject the HIV infected patient places that health care worker at terrible risk re getting this disease. If infected, that health care worker will eventually die a horrible death thanks to the gay agenda!
HIV patients come into emergency rooms and doctor offices and seldom warn the front line health care workers that they are HIV infected. This places these front line health care workers at risk. It should be against the law to knowingly endanger health care workers by not disclosing that you are infected with aids! Then sometimes these HIV infected patients are admitted to a hospital again with no identification that they have HIV. This places all frontline health care workers at that hospital at risk re accidentally acquiring a fatal disease!

If readers at FREEPDOM want real public health, you should review the document "Tracking the Hidden Epidemics, trends in STD's in the United States 2000". This document is a summary of the "sexually transmitted disease" statistics for our nation. You will find a listing of all STDs, but it will be missing one disease... the one that is actually capable of killing you... HIV.
That's right, while our CDC and Klinton-led gov't declared an all out offensive against hand guns and smokers, they forgot their prime directive... protection of the US citizenry from a KNOWN killer that is sitting in the middle of their GAY and LESBIAN community.

CDC states that 40,000 Americans become infected with this killer virus each year! The study reports that in 1999 the highest percentage of the AIDS cases were still homosexual men. This gay community is foisting their denial and their self-imposed disability on the rest of American society!
Why are our healthy families forced into paying the thousands of dollars of cost for a person who CHOSE that lifestyle? Why is my business saddled with the premiums involved? Why are our women still at risk?
The gay lobby trumps that there are sick children with hemophilia who got this disease too. The fact is that LESS than 1% of newly diagnosed AIDS cases were in children with this kind of exposure. On the other hand, nearly 6000 reported new cases were in the gay male crowd. Note: that's "reported" cases because some state and local governments MANDATE reporting. California COVERS IT UP! The California legislature chooses to permit cover up of HIV status. Gay male lobbyists need to stop using American children as human shields!
These gay men then take their disease and give the virus to heterosexual American women. That's right ladies, you are at increased risk for HIV because YOU are permitting the gay rights lobby to COVER UP HIV reporting! Fully 75% of the women newly diagnosed with HIV were HETEROSEXUAL. The other 25% were IV drug users!
So, let me summarize this for the mom's out there... the gay males around our gov't have permitted the gov't to cover up the reporting of this sexually transmitted disease. Then, as these same men engage in their bi-sexual activities, they spread the disease to their wives and girlfriends (who never know about the HIV because it's NOT REPORTABLE).
I urge Freeper women to begin political action to pressure the California state legislature and the US Congress to mandate reporting of HIV status to the US gov't!
One of these std's transmitted by the bisexuals to unsuspecting women is HPV. Maybe Bones has the scary data on this std that is not treatable and can eventually kill the women who get this std!

For the women who are interested in the origins of cervical cancer... look no farther than HPV! HPV is a virus that takes normal cells, infects it, and then changes it to a cancerous one.
So, basically, all these liberal feminists who have cervical cancer now... guess what they were doing in the 1960's and 1970's... heh heh... don't try and pull that "i'm a nice girl" stuff on our sick bay!
HPV can be picked up from any sexual contact. What is particularly lousy is that the woman ends up dead from cervical cancer about 15-30 years after the HPV infected her. So, her sexual contact can not be prosecuted or even treated. Furthermore, you may not identify the fact she contracted HPV until YEARS after the initial infection. Also, the male who infects her may be totally asymptomatic!
At this point, HPV is being reported and the CDC estimates that fully 20 million people are infected! That's about 10% of the population!
YUCK!
