[history]
It's not every day that someone likens Dan Rather and CBS News to the Mafia.
Or declares that the don in this case is The Dan, "who wanted me whacked."
Or calls the CBS brass "a bunch of hypocrites" so consumed by liberal bias that they reflexively slant the news.
The source of this vitriolic attack is none other than Bernard Goldberg, a CBS correspondent for 28 years who left the network last year. In his forthcoming book, "Bias," published by the conservative house Regnery Publishing, Goldberg unloads on his ex-employer.

Howard Kurtz is nothing but a dim-witted apologist for the DNC/Liberal Media Complex. His column and his book Spin Cycle try to give any explanation for media excesses besides the fact that the media is biased. In his silly book Spin Cycle, he argues that the media was so pro Clinton because Clinton was so good at spinning them, not because they DNC/Liberal Media wanted to be spun and spins counterclockwise anyway. Conservatives like Rush Limbaugh sometimes like to quote Kurtz because he does point out the problem (after they point it out of course), they miss the fact that his explanation is so silly.
Kurtz even claimed that he is dumb enough not to know whom the Washington Post was going to endorse for President in 2000. Forget the fact that they ALWAYS endorse the Democrat and NEVER endorse the Republican. He claimed he didn't know. The liar.
In his current hit piece, Kurtz can't claim that Goldberg is lying, so he tries to portray him as a bitter man, by pulling anything Goldberg said that was negative about CBS out of context, and putting them together in a heavy concentration. Often Kurtz spins Goldberg's statements by giving us a paraphrase instead of a quote, and quoting ONLY ONE word (sometimes only a few words) of what Goldberg actually said. For those of you who don't know how simple it is to change the meaning of one word read Poe's "Anatomy of a Composition."
He also portrays Goldberg as a traitor, the current spin at CBS, by giving us Hayward's story WITHOUT giving us Goldberg's side of the story.
Funny how members of the DNC/Liberal media complex portrayed David Brock as a hero, not as a traitor, when he wrote his book trashing his former friends in the conservative media. In addition, it is funny how the fact that Brock was trashing his former friends was used, by Kurtz and the DNC/Liberal Media Complex, as evidence in favor of, not against, Brock's argument. Forget the fact that Brock admitted he is a liar.
Kurtz's is the papologist for the DNC/Liberal Media complex and his smear of Goldberg is nothing but pap.

Kurtz's papoose is on the loose!

Goldberg must be on the right track - they keep calling him a traitor, so he must be telling the truth, otherwise, they'd call him a liar.

I ordered it last night from Amazon.com. Looking forward to reading it this weekend.

Sean Hannity was interviewing Goldberg on his show today. They mentioned an article Goldberg wrote back in 1996 concerning media bias. That landed him in hot water also. Anyone remember that article or perhaps have it?

Too bad somebody doesn't simply do an analysis of all the network news staff that has come off capitol hill democrat staffs. There is a real revolving door. For example, the guy who set up Rather's attempted hit on Bush senior, is a well known democrat party activist.

"It's not every day that..."Yes it is, Howard.

I will never forget a double page spread in either Newsweek or Time before the '91 election. The left page had George H. W. Bush (Varsity captain, Yale) dressed as an Elvis impersonator in a spangled white suit. The right side had ex 42 (band, high school) dressed as an athlete. It was so disgusting. The whole "wimp" thing was completely fabricated by the biased leftist media.

I'm surprised more freepers aren't commenting on this book. I'm very enthusiastic, and I can't wait to read it. Exactly, when Goldberg says for the non media to report things it's treason, but for Rather and his bitches it's considered "news." I hope Rather loses his smugness. It would serve our nation well.

...he argues that the media was so pro Clinton because Clinton was so good at spinning them LOL! Just like the old Clinton tactic. When faced with clear evidence of corruption, as a last resort argue, 'We're not corrupt -- we're incompetent!'

What the Jell took him sooo long to write this!@!
To: j.cam
Actually . . . I expected worse of Kurtz. Which buttresses Goldberg's argument.

Amazon.com Sales Rank: 2 This proves that a huge number of Americans are aware of and resent the blatant bias of the Criminal Media.

Wasn't Kurtz's book "Spin" the source for the story about Bill Clinton and his desire to date the 500 year old mummie?

one of these days, I'm going to run some segments from a cspan interview that Goldberg did on my show along with some of my commentary and observations that Goldberg is right on the money. I worked in the Propaganda Ministry for 10 years and I wouldn't believe the weather report without looking out the window first.

Interestingly, Kurtz failed to mention that "Bernard Goldberg is known as one of the preeminent writers and reporters in the television news industry. He earned 6 Emmy Awards at CBS News." [HBO REALsports]
Guess he thought that might screw his hit piece. ;-)
Another interesting point from the article [heads-up for Alamo-Girl]: Brill's Content honcho Steve Brill is now employed as a Newsweek columnist, covering news about the legal/business fallout after the September 11 attacks.
Looks like the Post media empire is taking care of their own after Brill was a loyal footsoldier for their Captain Bill. ;-)
