Islam distinguishes between several types of Jihad: Jihad where one puts ones life at risk, Jihad with one's possessions, Jihad by both oral and written word and Jihad by means of mobilizing fighters. Jihad with one's life is the highest level of Jihad:

Do you think "Jihad by both oral and written word " ever appears on FR?

The reward for Jihad:
"The reward for shooting an arrow for Allah covers not only the archer, but also he, who made the arrow, as well as he who handed it to the archer..." [Islamic Education for Twelfth Grade #641, p. 319]

Does this mean the bombers teachers get virgins without blowing themselves up? Doesn't quite seem fair.
