No. The Hashemite King of Jordan was the Shariff of Mecca and Madinah until the House of Saud conquered them. Before capturing these cities the Saudi king was merely the King of the Nejd. Saddam Hussein used this as a carrot to draw Jordan to his side during the last war and to anger the Saudis.

Are you aware of the first and second Saud dynasty?

If not, read how Abdulaziz Ibn Saud came boiling out of exile in Kuwait at the ripe age of 22 with 20 men and took Riyadh back in 1902.
