If you are a racical feminist, 911 has resulted in a series of "bad hair" days.

The shortage of feminist issues in the U.S. has exposed the real engine for feminist causes: bitchyness. No matter the condition of women here, whether it be sainthood, chivalry, oppression, or exploitation, there is one thing that will always remain constant: bitchyness. Our vocabulary and our literature is filled with references to this trait. Let's just accept it and move on.

Advertising tyrannizes women in our culture. It is the Taliban of North American society."

These women must be taking some serious drugs.

It's times like thesethat make me ponder. "Are the Taliban right ?
At least when it comes to women's issues.
We should repeal the 19th amendment."

"This is the sporty, outerwear version of the burqa," writes Ms. Gilman Novak. "Young girls learn from these images what society expects of them when they mature, and the message that rings loud and clear is that to speak out is not 'ladylike.' Girls grow up conditioned to be silent. Advertising tyrannizes women in our culture. It is the Taliban of North American society."

Please, please, somebody get a turtleneck and shut her up!

If what our society does is oppression, I think that is a sadder statement about weakness of women than our society.

This would come as a huge surprise to my father, who had 5 daughters and probably managed to get in 3 full sentences in his entire life, poor guy.

Already posted here under a different headline. I don't think author search is working.

Mark Steyn would be a national treasure if he were an American. How can you not love someone who crafts something like this?

"We will not support the bombing," they declared, and who can blame them? I dropped out of women's studies in Grade Two, but, as I recall, a bombing campaign is a quintessential act of patriarchal oppression and sexual domination. The male pilot, looming over the curvy undulating form of the Third World hillside, unzips his bomb carriage and unleashes his phallic ordinance to penetrate his target. Needless to say, he explodes on contact, typical bloody men.
There is a Mark Steyn ping list for anyone who's interested in following this guy. It's worth it!

I have 7 sisters and 2 daughters and believe strongly in womens rights. One could argue that the feminist movement of the 70's played a partially positive role. Today's feminist movement is totally worthless. My wife can't even stand to see feminazis on the tube.

re; "Do retarded, power-hungry bitches become feminists? Or do feminists become retarded power-hungry bitches?"

You ment, "Do ugly, hairy, unmarried, retarded, power-hungry bitches become feminists? Or do feminists become ugly, hairy, unmarried, retarded power-hungry bitches?

It is the latter.

Yes, that what I think it is. Intelligent women wouldnt' become feminists in the first place. The feminists are extremely quiet about Condi Rice because she has true ability and didn't need the feminists to promote her. That's why they much prefer less competent women like Hillary.

Oh, I don't know. Advertising is the reason you (if not, you're a paragon) believe that journalism could and should be objective--that we have a right to the truth. Whereas the First Amendment says pretty much the opposite--that publishers and speakers have the right to be wrong.

I believed that claptrap for decades on end, myself. Don't underestimate the power of advertising.

Bill Clinton in effect said;" a womans place is on my face", and the Femminista all swooned! We all know one of the great accomplishments of the Clinton era was to reduce the feminist movement to nothing more than a "clowns den"

????? Active imagination kills indeed. I think the women in the West suffer from a different kind of mandatory Burqua, it is the insane leftist feminist orthodoxy that is just about as imaginative as the Talebans'.

I have always found Miss Hitlery to be shallow and unimaginative. She speaks...as...though...she...is...addressing...a...kindergarten...class. I used to think her manner of speaking was the result of her thinking that her listeners were all stupid. Lately I've been convinced that her manner of speaking is due to her lack of knowledge and skills. The other morning on CNN after Paula Zahn said to Miss Hitlery and the Afghani lady, whom Paula had just conversed with, "Thank you both," Miss Hitlery said to Paula Zahn, "Thank you both."

Girls grow up conditioned to be silent

This contradicts the life experience of most males of any culture, western or eastern.
