Yeah, that's the real scandal here. How about charging the dispatcher with accessory to murder? And just blaming the dispatcher isn't right either... She's probably a product of that police department's overall "FU" attitude to the public that they "protect and serve."

As horrible as it sounds the police did nothing wrong. Under precedents going back to 1856, the police is NOT obligated to protect particular individuals, only the community at large. The police only get to people who have been murdered usually after the fact. Its up to people to provide themselves with the means of their own protection since the police can't be everywhere all the time. Most people who have been murdered in this country counted on the police to be there for them and they were unaware that isn't really possible and so they paid the price. The bottom line is if you need to go someplace you wouldn't go don't go or take a gun with you. That's about all you can do to stay alive.
