Yeah, I know this is a terrible thing to say, but as a native Louisianian, I don't know that I'd be all that disappointed if N.O. ceased to exist. The place is a cesspool of corruption, crime and is about three notches below a banana republic. If it no longer existed, LA would probably be a better state.

As a former Louisianian......I hear ya'. You forgot to mention the stench coming from the French Quarter. The place literally reeks of pee, unless it's been cleaned up recently. You also forgot to mention that New Orleans has some of the world's greatest snobs. They seen to think New Orleans culture is on par with the greatest cities of the world. I tend to disgree. :)

You most defitnetly haven't experienced the charm there is to the city of New Orleans, shame on you for beign so pesimistic and not seeing the beauty the city has to offer. What other American city has Spanish and French influence that can be seen in its architecture and food. New Orleans is by far one of the best American cities there is, and it would truly be sad, to see the government and people like you to just let it die.
