Mad Ivan, anything on this on Free Britania or Free Dominion?
To: MadIvan
Same flight school as the terorists in the U.S., came home to India on plane September 12, one day after the terrorist attacks (could have left earlier that morning on Sept. 11 for the long flight)

Based on this info, it makes sense that Flight 93 was going after the White House or Capital Building.
To: SolitaryMan
Didn't the plane with Barbara Olsen on it directly pass over the Capitol becuase the pilot could track the White House.
Evidently the trees from above made a hard visual target.

....Flight 93 was going after the White House or Capital Building. The impact of flt 93 was approximately 250 miles west northwest of Washington. The flight path was essentially west from takeoff.
Those flying the plane were either incompetent navigators or fighting passengers the whole distance since takeoff.
If they wanted Washington it seems they would head that way from the very beginning as they other three did shortly after takeoff.

If the pilots couldn't sopt their targets the first time, that makes me believe that they were indeed incompotent.

Yes, we got this - I am not surprised. There was some thought in MI5 that the terrorists would want to hit Canary Wharf too.
Blair did the right thing in wanting to hit the little bastards. Now that we have this confirmation, I hope the SAS lads get angrier still and carve bin Laden into bite sized chunks.

What a PR bonanza for Blair now that the terrorists are going after the UK.
Is there anything strategic near the Abbey that would be of additional value outside of the obvious?

Statue of Winston would have been destroyed. Also there is a statue of Abraham Lincoln nearby.
Number 10 is a few blocks away.

"Anything strategic near the Abbey?" Oh, my goodness. In that part of Westminster are the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, No.10 Downing St.(pretty small to spot from the air), Admiralty Arch as well as the whole Whitehall complex of cabinet offices. And very close by air is the massive St. Paul's Cathedral, which survived intense German air bombardment during WWII.

There you have it...Tony Blair and Dubya both targeted.

Actually, 93 had gone as far west as Youngstown, where it had made a turn and adopted a heading toward DC. It had already flown for over 50 miles towards DC when it was brought down.
To: belmont_mark
over 50 miles towards DC when it was brought down.It was also on the DCA transponder.

I thought the terrorists had tured the transponder off?

Here is one of the best illustrations I have yet seen of the timeline of each flight and their relationship with all other flights and their ultimate destination:

Blair did the right thing in wanting to hit the little bastards. Makes you wonder when he was aware of the plot. Based on his immediate reaction to support US, he may have been aware of this from other info at the start.

American Airlines Flight 77: A Boeing 757 en route from Dulles Airport near Washington to Los Angeles crashed into the Pentagon. The plane was carrying 58 passengers, four flight attendants and two pilots.
To: rmvh

That's not entirely accurate.
Flight 77 was the closest to D.C., departing from Dulles. It took off at 8:10am but didn't hit the Pentagon until 9:42am. They flew the plane on the regular flight path before turning back. I still find it amazing that only 1 person called from that plane (Barbara Olson). Also, it's possible the pilot was also alive still and in the back of the plane. You have to figure maybe the terrorists on that flight had all the passengers convinced they'd be landing safely somewhere. They also managed to keep them from calling.
Flight 93 probably had a similar plan. Fool the passengers into remaining quiet. The problem with that flight is that it was so late taking off, passengers had time to learn of the other hijackings. These terrorists seemed unconcerned with all the phone calls made from the plane. Didn't they indicate that a couple dozen calls were made?

It makes me Praise the LORD God for bringing confusion to the enemy and preventing them from achieving their goals.
