I didn't see these groups (Germans, Irish,etc) coming here ILLEGALLY. When they came they learned the language, accepted the culture & ASSIMILATED. And they did NOT put America down. But this isn't their fault that they came to a region for opportunity (whether raising their standards of living or raising havock). It is our government for allowing it & GW is as guilty as anyone for this, especially with just this week of allowing Mexican trucks to travel throughout America under NAFTA.

Amazing, isn't it that of all the nationalities you mention the Mexicans are the only to date that in their unwillingness to assimilate have had Spanish become almost an official second language. Spanish is the only language found now on government documents, banking transaction devices and most telephone answering systems.
It is not difficult to draw the inference that Mexicans do not wish to assimilate, to embrace the culture which many nationalities have contributed to nor become Americans. What I ask you gives the Mexicans the right to be so arrogant compared to all other nationalities that make up this great country.
The Mexicans are storming across the borders at a time in history after all the other immigrants have built this nation to be the greatest in history and the Mexicans are now like locusts swarming across the boarders to partake of the bounty which was achieved without their assistance.

Yes, many Americans of a vast diverse national background resent the illegals sneaking in during the night to scoop up the gravy. The American people are oh so giving but even the most generous will get fed up with hordes of ungrateful illegals that are here not as guests but have come here as 'looters' of our values, customs, traditions and the culture of many that have made us so great.
Resentment runs deeper than most folks would like to admit.

Move to the barrios of Santa Ana, Ca.. With the flood of illegals from Mexico comes increased crime, welfare receipiants, drug smuggling, corruption, lower standard of living, a desire by many not to assimilate, etc.... Ah yes, the typical response to the Mexican invasion of the USA. Let me ask you this, when my Irish, Welsh, and English ancestors came to America were they eligible for welfare? Were they given job finding assistance at the employment dept. in their native language? Were they given free emergency medical care? Were they given more preference points for government jobs than some military veterans? Were they eligible for Social Security and Medicare even though they hadn't paid in their fair share? Were the Irish that came to Ellis island with tuberculosis allowed into the country? Did the Welsh immigrants smuggle cocaine when they crossed the border? Did these people NOT assimilate into the AMERICAN culture after 3 or 4 generations? Did my great grandmother recieve WIC benefits once my grandfather was born (during the depression)? Who the he!! do you think pays out the nose for all of the above benefits? Is it the Mexican illegals or is it the average American taxpayer? Well, considering the fact that most of the amigos that work in the fields here in the Willamette valley are working under the table I would say that Joe sixpack is footing the bill. You sir are comparing apples to oranges. History repeats itself and the USA is currently following the Roman Empire's recipe for self destruction with the help of your Spanish speaking friends.

If you aren't a mexican (and I think you are) you wouldn't understand what is going on until you are fighting mexicans in your own backyard. Unlike past immigrants these ones have told anyone who wants to listen that their objective is to invaded and conquer through illegal immigration large chucks of America's southwest territories. Only the naive fail to appreciate the gravity of this ongoing crisis. Ever wonder why most mexican's don't want to learn English like every other ethnic people that have come to our shores?

Back then things were VERY different. One could not access any parts of "the system" unless they spoke English, there was no welfare, and they WANTED to assimilate. These days, immigration, FOR MANY, though not all, IS different. Every immigrant has to be assessed on their own merits. Apparently the brilliant Mrs. Schafly's last line about ASKING them if they are assimilating or invading flew right over your head! You are the pinhead!

And furthermore, America was CORRECT in questioning the patriotism of Germans in WWI and WWII and the Japanese in WWII. Did it ever occur to you that the reason people used to assimilate is precisely because there were social pressures to do so? If you wanted to get a job, you had to speak English and be GRATEFUL for being in America!
